Two articles on the Globe about brady/obrien argument

If anything this was good for BO'B resume going forward. He showed that he is not afraid to tangle with even a super star QB.

I hope that it's not for a couple of years but when he becomes a HC candidate, I think that incident will help him. Not saying it was staged for that, it was too spontanous to be staged.

Other than that, it's now a non-story but the media will still beat it to death.

Agreed. That is the best thing to happen to Bill O'Brien's career. He's receiving a lot of respect nationally for not kowtowing to the team's superstar.

I have a feeling, that he and the Super Star QB go at it a lot more than we know behind the scenes. Meh, at least we know they give a damn. I still think the BOB's playcalling is questionable at times.

What is it with so many people here that disagreement with a writer's opinion has to be expressed in the form of utter defamation? Why can't you just say you didn't agree without destroying the guy? Happens all the time here - maybe you folks ought to take some of the observations Bedard and Mazz made to heart yourselves. Instead we get hyperbolic put downs that sound (in case you haven't been listening to yourselves) like children who, afraid to disagree with the crowd, flip the uncool kid a nasty name along with everyone else. The behavior has a simple name, it's called insecurity...

My dislike of Mazz goes back to his days on WEEI, my dislike of the media in general goes way beyond just sports. Insecurity has nothing to do with it. I didn't even listen to his radio show or read the article, and I don't need to. I get all the information that I need from my Patriot bretheren at patsfans.
I don't like him. PERIOD. When I don't like people, I stay away from them. I don't want to hear or read anything they have to say. PERIOD. That's just the way I am. I just don't want you lumping all of us in the same bucket. Everyone has their reasons for how they feel.

+1. Mazz spent 4 hours on Brady being a spoiled superstar today. Almost everything is negative, callers are ridiculed if they disagree and Mazz thinks he's the funniest man in the world with the way he laughs hysterically at his own jokes and anything he thinks is funny...which usually is about putting someone down or making fun of them. I wish he'd look at himself in the mirror. I can't stand him.

...and yet people listen to that garbage radio show on the Sports Hub. It's amazing to me. Felger and Mazz are two of the biggest a--holes in Boston Sports media. Throw in Saughnessy, Borges and Tomasse....and Boston has the insufferable bastards market cornered. Why can't they go take jobs in LA or something....please!

BTW, that's not insecurity....that's just truth.

Not to mention that the media here has an agenda, have become "superstars" themselves and have ego's as big as Brady. Some of them so hypocritical (Cough...Borges...Cough). Most are fame whores and some are actually in Larry Lucchino's back pockert (cough...Shauggnessy...Cough).

Two sports radio stations + commercial breaks = listening to two sports radio stations

Whoa.

Are you equating the football knowledge and backgrounds of Bedard with Massarotti/Shaughnessy?

Anyone with a scintilla of knowledge about the persons we're discussing knows that Shaughnessy and Massarotti don't have ANY real background in football and are as competent to write about the sport as I am with soccer.

Notice, I didn't put Borges in that "defamation" list because he actually has football knowledge. If you were correct that the "defamation" was based merely on adverse opinion, then Borges would have been included in that. But he wasn't because he at least understands the sport.

The point was about competency.

Massorotti and Shaughnessy writing about football is like Minnie Pearl writing about a Kanye West concert.

Think before you write.

Insecurity?? Bull!

Have you read any of Mazz's writing in the past and as you put it, 'hyperbolic put downs' of the Pats and the fans?

He - and a few others - have earned the right to be batted down like a pinata.

Orianthi is the Patriots singing about the Boston sports media vs the fan base

I'm stupid,
I'm useless,
I can't do anything right.

I'm a certified Boston Sports maniac. I digest every piece of info on the local teams that I can get my hand on. That being said, when it comes to broadcast media in general, Felger and Mazz specifically, it's overANALyzed for stories that ain't even there, and almost always in a negative manner. The local pro teams win here - WTH would the Media be saying if they lost? I watch or listen to Francesa - how you like them ratings, programmers?

Maybe people feel that way because that's the way the articles should be treated.

Bedard is Dr Phil
Mazzodumski is TMZ, Page Six, Walter Winchell

It was bad situational football, they argued, and it's done.

Mountain meets mole hill.

Get off your high horse.

Again, when you talk about Tony Mazz in relation to the Patriots as an organization, and to the fans that have the audacity to be positive of, or defend them.......He hates you.

The article he wrote in the Herald after the Tomase mess confirmed it. So his bias is out there for everybody to see. It's not hyperbole, its not just negativity just for ratings. He hates how the organization runs there business, and specificly how Belichick treats the media.

Which is fine, he's entitled to his opinion, but I'm mostly bothered by his disdain for fans of the team that don't bow to his negative point of view. He derides those fans as being "Belichickletts". If BradysButtBoy wants to talk about people being insecure, he should take a longer look at the jaded sports writer paid to write as a professional voice of the fan.

Personally, I'd love to locked into a room with Tony Mazz for 5 minutes..........Washing my hands of his blood would be the best 6th minute of my life.

Hows that for hyperbole?

Right...on...the...money. Except for the violence, of course

Totally overlooked in all of this is Bedard's blatantly hate-filled anti-Irish take on this very important issue:

"LANDOVER, Md. - Two Irish guys from Boston got into an argument during an NFL game.

Somebody alert the obvious police.

That only happens in every watering hole from Scituate to West Newbury on Sundays and Mondays from September through January."

As an American of Irish descent, I have to say: Them's fighting words!

LOL! As another American of Irish descent, when I first read Bedard's thoughts on Monday morning, I smiled to myself and simply nodded my head.

Why does anyone listen to any of these radio shows? All you guys ever talk about is how much you hate them; just don't tune in if they bother you so much.

I don't spend a lot of time in Boston anymore, but even when I do I never listen to that crap.

Mazz wrote that one while wearing his underoos.

I just want to point out the obvious PC racial/ethnic double standard.

Why is it ok to insult the proud Irish people?

If, instead of smearing the Irish, Bedard had led a story with black stereotypes, he'd have been fired and blacklisted.

Why?
