Tua Tagovailoa

I can’t find a link, but during yesterday’s game one of the announcers said something like he has only seen one college QB with such good instincts as Tua for where all his players are on the field - Drew Brees.

I know media types can be prone to overstatement, but still...

It was a very good game yesterday. Despite the score, the Aggies are always bringing their A-game when they play Alabama.

I'd love to see him in a Patriots uniform. Kid not only has incredible accuracy, but puts a really tight spiral on the ball too.

Of course, as a 40+ year fan of Alabama, I'm biased towards them. However, New England, the NFL's current version of Alabama, is always picking in the bottom of the 1st round so it's impossible to get someone like Tua without some serious trading up. Sigh.

Let’s see how he does against defenses that overload the left side of the field and force him to throw right first. I mentioned in the draft forum that I counted 9 times in a row where they threw to the left. Alabama’s bunch formations came almost exclusively on the left side of the field. Overload it and get in his face. Make the lefty throw to the right.

And for the record, I still think he’s the best QB in the country right now. But defenses have not forced him to do what he’s uncomfortable with yet. And no defense may be able to do that until he goes up against Georgia and/or OSU.
Fwiw I've seen him throw right more than a few times in his short career (UL, UG last year & a few others). Didn't see any real problems.

Might be something to keep an eye on going forward.

His mechanics are pretty special, specifically his lower half. Such a strong, sturdy base. He generates everything from there/core. Definitely has that Hawaiian strength. Almost flawless weight transfer.

And like the announcers said he has a great feel for spacing on the field. Almost no hesitation at all.

His mechanics are far advanced than usual for a QB at this point in his career. As you said, he is properly using his core to generate power on his throws.

Tua is the most natural college QB I’ve seen in a long time. He will be an absolute star in the nfl. We need to find a way to fleece a team into the 2020 #1 pick.

He’s awesome. But I think Herbert is just as good. But Tua probably is in a system that’s more friendly to QBs entering the Pros. Big Herbert fan. So mad Oregon lost last night

I'm thiinking that it's here because folks are contemplating finding someone better than Hoyer who can become the QB-in-waiting for Brady.

I like Herbert better. Tua is listed at 6 foot 1 but no way he is over 6 foot IMO. He also has all day to make some of those throws,

I have too but the majority of the stuff they do in the passing game is to the left. He's a lefty so it's to be expected. A&M did manage to slow him down a bit when they overloaded the left side and forced him to go elsewhere but other times there was usually someone streaking down the seam wide open. I don't think he'll run into a D that can slow him down until they play Georgia for the SECC.
