I've watched all the games that he's played, starting from the national championship. What I see from him is a guy who isn't trying to throw it 20 yards every play, or is trying to run every play as a primary option. He is such a poised passer and by extension, such an effective runner. I don't think that I've seen a guy in college as perfect a passer as this guy and when he decides to go to the NFL, he will be the best QB in the class. His accuracy is so on point, and he doesn't dance around in the pocket if he doesn't need to (like half the high profile QBs do). His value might also take a bit of a hit if he and Hurts continue to split 70, 30 over the season, which could be beneficial for a team drafting lower. Can I hope he makes it to New England? I can't say I know his personality, but he's perceived to have a "magnetic personality" but is a quiet leader. I haven't wanted to have a guy like this on the Patriots for a while, but this guy is the next true superstar QB in the NFL (not just for one season, but for his career).

Thoughts?

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but I see him as far more appealing since he is spreading the ball a ton to different WRs, which is a skill that bodes well in the NFL. He doesn't target a #1 WR 15 times a game, and while the Alabama WRs are very talented, it reflects well on Tua that he can spread the ball out so much. Also, I feel the need to mention that the sample size I am basing this off on is small, and that we haven't got to Bama's most difficult games this season yet.

I want to see Devin Bush, Khaleke Hudson, or Tua in a Patriots' uniform. Unfortunately I doubt any of those guys make it that far; probably would require moving up.

All are extremely talented players and fill positions of need, unless Dawson is able to fill the STAR role well.

Tua isn't eligible this year

It’s cosmically unfair that Alabama finally found an elite QB to go along with their usual 5 star at every position roster. It’d be like putting Montana on the 85 Bears.

Interested in seeing Justin Herbert tonight for Oregon vs. Stanford. Usually 6'6" QBs have inconsistent mechanics but this guy seems special. Hungry, too, with humble beginnings / lightly recruited

It’s not like they have some stud, future star backup QB who they could just trade to move into a high draft spot where a guy like Tua is available.

We could just keep trading 1sts into the next year until we move into the Top 10 o_Oo_Oo_O

Justin Herbert 25-27, 331 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

wow... trying to hold on though, Stanford ball down 3, 51 sec

edit: OT!

One thing that will go against him is that Oregon Offensive scheme is ridiculous in college! But agree with that he could be very good!

Let’s see how he does against defenses that overload the left side of the field and force him to throw right first. I mentioned in the draft forum that I counted 9 times in a row where they threw to the left. Alabama’s bunch formations came almost exclusively on the left side of the field. Overload it and get in his face. Make the lefty throw to the right.

And for the record, I still think he’s the best QB in the country right now. But defenses have not forced him to do what he’s uncomfortable with yet. And no defense may be able to do that until he goes up against Georgia and/or OSU.

his parents originally wanted to name him like the bruins current goalie
