Troy Brown,Ty Law: "Pats Cant Play Man To Man D"

Don't buy the height -- he's as tall as Revis.
He just seems to be a constant step behind the receiver -- whereas good corners can either stay next, or even leave space, to the receiver and undercut him when the ball is thrown.
Mccourty and Revis are like apples and oranges. Mccourty is average at best, Revis is the best or second best in league (granted that he does hold alot)

you cant play man to man with out a pass rush and the pats are not good at blitzing any ways so way play man, i dont agree with you have to play man to man to win a SB we seen the colts and bucs win with two deep

And we were 14-2 last season with the #1 seed...oh how much joy that brought everyone for our regular season trophy. We have a worse defense this season.

So I guess if there is nothing but gloom and doom in the future, why do you continue to torture yourself and watch this team. The Bruins bandwagon is rolling.

I have had no expectations of a SB championship from this team from week 1. I hope for it, but I don't expect it. If winning the SB every year is your realistic expectation and that is the only thing that "brings you joy", then I'm glad I'm not you.

Even if they make it to the SB...they aren't even coming close to winning vs GB

But they can't play man which means not good things to come in jan....hopefully they can try it again but who knows...

I think this year they finally snap the 1 and done which is a good thing..but winning 1 to lose the next is not what i want

I realize that Rogers is having a career year but defensively, the Pack isn't really much better that the PATS, check the Stats and points given up. Having Clay Mathews do his schtick after some play he finally made is silly and doesn't define good defense. I'm sick of seeing his schtick it in a commercial as well, ad infinitum. Week in and week out, Rogers has to put the team on his back and carry it to victory. He can do that. So can Brady.

I make no predictions, so I have no idea who will be playing in the S.B... Those making such predictions have no real idea either but they love to hear themselves speak, even when they are writing.

There is still 1/4 of the regular season left. A lot can happen and I am not going to breakdown super bowl matchups of teams that we are speculating will make it based on playing 3/4 of the regular season.

I'm a fan of a team with Brady and BB leading the way, my expectations every season in a SB title. Oh how weird I am

Perhaps, someone who knows more about these things can enlighten me some, but I do not understand the cushion Pats Cbs give outside receivers when they are in man coverage. I noticed this in the Bills game when they struggled mightily in man and again yesterday.

To me, it makes no sense to line up 5 yards off the receiver and try to bump them as the receiver runs to them. Giving a 4.4 receiver a running start while you stand flat-footed waiting to bump them is a recipe for getting beat deep quickly. Isn't it better to be as close to the receiver as possible when the ball is snapped to make the bump? The cushion is beneficial if you start retreating immediately when the ball is snapped but that's not what they are doing. Is this the technique being teached or is it just the CBs (mostly McCourty) being skittish?

GB is a helluva team but their defense is atrocious.

GB's defense is atrocious, yet better than the Pats'

The Pats are not winning a superbowl this year, but boy, I'd like to win a playoff game.

Brown, and Law said something less than wonderful about the Patriots?

Who knew they were Jets fans?

The Pats can do neither on a consistent basis. The pass rush is sporadic at best and most of the turnovers they get come from batted balls.
That's not accurate. The Patriots are tied for 4th in the NFL in creating turnovers. When you repeatedly intercept batted balls, it's not an accident. It's a product of the way they play defense.

The other thing they do well is edge rush which, while not dominant, is definitely better than "sporadic at best." I like what I've seen from Carter, Anderson, and Ninkovich. The interior rush is what this team lacks.

As for coverage, it's patently obvious the secondary does not have what it takes to play man. We've known that since last year. They need to stick with zone, which is what's keeping them in the mix in the red area (where they rank around 10th).

no, Im pretty sure he ripped how soft the zones were though.

maybe they were soft because of the lack of talent.. Either way, this defense is going to be exposed in the playoffs..

Ty Law is the best CB this team has ever had. Show respect son.

I miss having players like Law on the D. Ty Law didn't **** around.

True, having a very good secondary makes a difference. That said, we're getting very little push up front which makes the secondary's jot that much more difficult.

It's not just Law. It's Rodney, Mike V. Willie M. and so on. Those guys had "it."

Its that extra inch that makes Revis so dominant. Not his physicality, confidence, speed and awareness but rather that extra inch.

Don't forget the holding too. I'm sure that if you check underneath his fingernails, you will find remnants of Wes Welker's jersey.

2001 TB would be the #2 WR.

I wonder if the TBrady of now had the TBrown of 2001, his numbers might be Welker-ish....

A 2001 Law makes this team a SB favorite. People forget how lock-down he was.

People underrated Law even while he was still playing and shutting people down. I don't understand why he never got the respect, even now, that he truly deserves.
