PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Training Camp Day 4 - July 26

I don’t think there have been enough practices to be making practice rotation decisions based upon being happy or unhappy with what they see.

This is still the figuring out stage, so what we are seeing is based upon precamp expectations.
To me, those expectations are that Wilson will be the primary IOL backup, first man off the bench for all 3 while competing to win any of those jobs. I think when the first injury happens, Wilson steps in and may ne er leave the field again, assuming he okays as expected.

With Wallace, I think they see him as a guy who needs to develop, but a lock to make the roster. So they are getting him work at G so as a backup he can fill in at more spots. I expect in the next week or 2 at the most he will be back at OT, probably splitting his time at LT and RT. I think this camp, for him, is to evaluate and prepare him to be ready wherever he might be needed. Which is the same thing you are saying.
Probably right, Andy. And probably wishful thinking on my part. But that's the fun about inferences, you set up all the framing to get the response you like.

The good news is over the next month we will at least START to see if our educated guesses turn out correctly.

Hmm

How much of a consensus to we have that these are the most likely four to be active in most games (Diggs, Williams, Douglas and Hollins?

If all are healthy, and the answer is that we know the likely active WR's, who else is worth keeping, as another active WR and/or as a backup in case of injury?

WHICH OF THE REST ARE WORTH KEEPING ON THE 53
Chism?
Boutte?
Bourne?
Polk?
Baker?
Boutte, Chism and maybe Bourne.

In the sixties my family would go to the north shore every summer ..ipswich, rockport etc we would always stop at hojos on the mass pike. I always ordered french fries and a hot dog. Now i wonder what was in those hot dogs
Probably better ingredients than other hot dogs. They went out of business because their costs were higher than other fast food franchises.

Boutte probably makes it. So that’s 5.

Of the others - I could see a world where both Chism and Baker make it due to special teams. Chism has gotten a good amount of returner work, and we’ve seen several posts about Baker getting special teams work. So carrying 7 seems high, but if they’re both key ST contributors then it’s not that crazy. Both guys have made periodic splash plays in camp on offense so I could see the team wanting to keep working with them long-term.

Bourne is a likely cut or trade; I don’t really know with Polk. I guess he could be IRed but his issue doesn’t seem serious enough to linger into week 1, but he’s really done nothing at all. Perhaps he has some small amount of trade value with another team that liked him in the draft last year. 3 years remaining of rookie money, with only 2 of those years guaranteed, may be enticing to some contending team with cap space concerns.

True, but Mike was behind all pros, borderline hall of famers and fan favorites in Jason Gildon Joey Porter and Clark Haggans to compete.
Sure, and Sow started the 3rd most offensive snaps on the team as a rookie and last year’s regime was a total clown show. He put too much good football down on tape as a rookie to be a mirage. He, like all the other good players stuck on a bad team last year, needs a better opportunity this one.

It seems like we do this every year, where we think they're going to keep way more WRs than they need.

Unless ether does something worthwhile in camp, I could see them cutting Polk and Baker and hoping at least one makes it to the practice squad.

I know we all need something to talk about, that's why we're here posting on a form in late July, but we really need to wait till the pads come on and the physicality is ramped up to really start in depth discussions on where guys, especially O-Lineman are at. Just my 2 cents.
We are all just p------g in the wind. They haven't done anything yet. Defense should be competitive. We won't really know anything about the offense until October. The vibe doesn't seem much difference from last time. Everything is wonderful. It's definitely an improvement this year but until we find out if the OL can be competitive and Drake can keep his head in the game and manage the offense, then it's all pfft!

Of those mentioned, Chism & BootyTime. Bourne maybe but Only if he drastically restructures his contract.

The other two I want Out of the building as soon as possible; so that would be a No on them.

Ok, everyone sucked last year. Some will come back better with better health and better coaching.
============
Q1) Do you have all of the first OL making the roster (Campbell, Strange, Bradbury, Onwenu and Moses)? and Wilson makes six?
======
Q2) How many and who do you expect to make the 53 as backups?
2a) Wallace?
2b) Lowe?
2c) next?
2d) next?

1. Yes

2. Low at LT, Wallace at RT, Sow at LG & Laydown at RG.

I’m perverse. So I want to see both Polk and Baker make the roster just for the entertainment Cap will provide in response…

jk, love ya Cap. So let’s split the difference. You get Polk cut, I get Baker emptying wheelchairs. Deal?
