Trade Idea: Gonzo for MHJ & a 2nd and a 3rd

We are in a different era where it's extremely difficult finding a solid CB in today's game. Gonzo is regarded among the best in the game and the Super Bowl was his audition to be paid like one. To fans and media, him shutting down JSN (before injury) and Shaheed will go unnoticed because they lost. But the Pats saw how valuable he is and the Brinks truck is going to be backed up soon.

I'm taking a CB over an overpriced WR any day. Trading for MHJ would be a GM killing move.

Trading for MHJ wouldn’t be a GM killing move. Trading Gonzo for him would be. If they can get MHJ for a 2nd or 3rd then by all means.

Thats a little hyperbolic, outside of a few QBs any player should be tradeable for 3 first rounders, including Gonzo.
TBH, I would not consider that at all. A great CB is not easy to come by and if you are lucky enough to get one you don't give it away for 3 magic beans. This is just my opinion

Would you consider it? Knowing he is going to cash in on that Super Bowl performance it would seem like a big ask for us to pay up.

Cardinals will continue to suck. Marvin might just need a change of scene.
Are you a Cardinal's fan? Is this your way of getting them a good player? Why MHJ though? What has he done?

Two words: designated driver.

Just pay Gonzo. Enough hand wringing about him being too expensive. He is either the #1 or #2 CB in the league. If you want a lockdown corner you have to pay out of the nose.

We can afford it.

Teams that have 2 1s in this draft coming up.
And a 1 in 2027. Might think bout that but id probably want a starter at a position of need to go along with it. RT of the future. So 3 1sts and a starting RT

Right now, Harrison Jr's value might be a second and third straight up without Harrison. He would have to had his career stats (1493 yards, 12 TDs) in a single season for me to even consider including Gonzo in the deal.

Harrison has been a bust thus far in his career. Probably not his fault and the fault of the coaching, QB, and team. But there is no guarantees he will remotely become the WR he was projected to before he was drafted. In fact, he might not be anything better than an average WR who might show flashes of brilliance.

I don't know.

Sauce Gardiner got the Jete 2 firsts an an unproven receiver with upside. Gonzo is probably 3 R1s AND something else.

Look at the last three players taken at 16 (average of a #1 pick). Add them up, Gonzo is worth more as a player, and costs about the same financially.

No. It would be the Sauce deal. People way overrate Gardiner because he played like an elite CB for his first two seasons and then totally fell off in his third and fourth. The problem is everyone sees him as his first two years. The Jets got top compensation by a poorly managed team that thought they could trade away two first rounders because they were all set at QB for the future with Daniel Freaking Jones.

There is no chance he gets 3 1sts. None
Irrelevant anyway, they aren't dealing him.

MHJ had separation issues in college, continue in NFL, the #1 thing that correlates to success. He's a mid-receiver. Gonzo is same age as MHJ. This is a dumb trade idea.
