Re: Hit on Woodhead

With all due respect, it would be at least a bit delusional to think that the jets wouldn't like a do-over on the decision to cut Danny Woodhead.

============================================

Maybe so, as I remember the Jets were trying to adjust there game day roster tailoring it to there opponent, Jets tried to hide Danny on the practice squad and the Pats took advantage, good for Woodhead, he never would of got the playing time he has on the Pats behind Greene and LT.

Re: Hit on Woodhead

It didn't look dirty to me at all. I may be in the minority, but it really just looked like a solid play where, unfortunately, a really good player ended up on the receiving end of it.

Re: Hit on Woodhead

======================================

He was good enough to play several years for the Jets and allow the Jets to develop him, just his misfortune the Jets had more talented players ahead of him deserving a roster spot.

I will always be a huge fan of the guy, he plays like a Jet.

Clowney ... now thats a joke! They needed his roster spot and wouldn't cut McKnight!

I just thought the jets fell into the classic trap of keeping the draft pick (McKnight) over the undrafted free agent. Lots of teams do it but Woodhead is the better player.

Re: Hit on Woodhead

It was a clean hit.

Started off fore arms to forearms and then slid up, no helmet contact.

That's football. JMHO

Clearly helmet to helmet and will be a fine by the league! Go back under whatever bridge you crawled out from you Jet Troll!

w/ your overrated QB (second worst completion %age in NFL Woody wouldn't be the same person. he would not have been used in same manner and the BEST QB would not be hooking him up w/ passes

but he EXCELS like a PATRIOT. "Plays like a Jet" is an insult because he is far better off in a WINNING environment; a team that doesn't choke in 2 consecutive AFCCG games

Come on..... That hit was textbook illegal. I don't care if that hit had been made by a patriot to a jet its still illegal. The first thing that makes contact is the crown of his helmet with the side of Woodhead's helmet.

I agree with the bolded, I think.

I always have trouble deciphering your short hand.

What does it mean to play like a Jet? Not being dismissive, I'm just curious what it is that you think represents their character through the 3 coaches that they've had in the last decade, to the point that you can identify that characteristic with the franchise. It's easy for teams like the Pats (who have had Belichick for 10 years and, minus the Carroll era, had Parcells before that), or the Colts/Steelers (who have had a handpicked line of succession for quite a while). I don't understand how fan of teams with high turnover at head coach make that association.

Also, in what way could McKnight possibly be considered more deserving of a roster spot than Woodhead? The one and only reason why he was chosen was because he was a fourth-round rookie. That doesn't make it the wrong choice, but let's not pretend it was exclusively merit that drove that decision.

That's the weird thing, and I don't get why people suddenly think illegal hits are legal when it's not done to one of their team's players. Was anyone at all on this board claiming that Meriweather's hit on Heap last year was legal? This stuff is pretty black and white.

It means to play for a contract that pays much more than you are worth on a team that used the uncapped year to try to buy a championship.

Re: Hit on Woodhead

On the video that I watched you can HEAR the helmet to helmet contact. It was illegal. Also, players don't get up wobbly like that unless their brains have been scrambled a bit.

Re: Hit on Woodhead

It's one of those things that if I have to explain it, then you would never understand.

So you don't know. Gotcha.

Here is a clip of Cotchery playing like a Jet, this is maybe the best way for me to show you, maybe you are familiar with the play, if not watch for the replay at the end of the catch,

Jerricho Cotchery -- tough as nails - YouTube

The same Cotchery who demanded to be cut and took a $1 million paycut just to get out of New York? I agreed that he's all heart, but clearly he doesn't think he plays like a Jet

If that proved you right, then Bugs Bunny has been proving Elmer Fudd right for almost a century. You might wanna open some windows. Those paint fumes are really taking their toll.
