Top 6 fluky B.S. at the expense of the Patriots:

Nothing fluky about that. In fact it was quite deliberate.

Yes, similarly twenty months later at the same venue.

Apparently, Chuck was naïve thinking first, that he could win a playoff game playing straight up based entirely upon football there; and second, that not actively protecting his receivers against a total enabled headhunting cheap shot artist was not necessary against a piece of sh*t opponent with a stolen gifted fake Super Bowl victory in their pockets.

Maybe but tbh I don’t think the team was that good that year. Blown out at home by the Chargers and Colts and they gave up over 390 yards of offense in something like 8 games in a row. Injuries had a lot to do with that but the talent regressed a bit too.
By the end of the season everything had settled down and they were much more talented, healthy and strong enough on the field to win a third straight Super Bowl.

Every season has ups and downs and adversity, and this was no exception. But Dillon was healthy and active and the defense was right there.

Must I mention the blowouts the Patriots received in all their previous title seasons.

This ignominious end of a season is totally attributable to attitude, or a terrible lack of it. Motivation. Focus.

The other teams (Donkeys, Dolts, Squealers) wanted it more.

I have a habit of going back to the old Celtics. They always had the intensity, the fire, the motivation, the focus, the adrenaline, the pressure - and repeated seven years in a row.

**** this guy

If you’re ever near Fort Logan National Cemetery make sure to seek out the grave and pay your respects - with a full bladder
Of course the fake RTP is the most infamous and publicized, but that was only one of...not a plethora, more like an avalanche of incredible calls and non-calls throughout the game but especially in the fourth quarter.

No, Prentice McCray did not do anything worthy of the additional Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty he received (Hamilton got one before, I believe) after the Patriots had stopped them on 3rd and 1 which gave the Frauders another 1st down, this time just outside the 1-yard line with the seconds ticking down.

Instead of saying they won 8 in a row, say they repeated 7 times. That's a great way to put that.

Heh I like how you said that.

I still don't think they were that good in 05. The run game regressed. The OL had problems. Injuries in the secondary. The Bruschi situation obviously didn't help either and guys like Beisel weren't the answer.

Something was just off with that team. Got handled easily by Carolina in week 2 and it went from there.

Attitude.

Here are five things to look for in next weekend's AFC divisional-round games:

New England Patriots at Denver Broncos (Saturday, Jan. 14, 8 p.m. ET)
1. Would you believe the NFL's best run defense in the second half of the season was the Patriots? It's true, and that defense will get a great test against the Broncos. The Patriots gave up only 68.6 rushing yards per game in the second half of the season. In the first eight games, the Patriots were gashed for 128.8 yards a game. During that time, they were without defensive end Richard Seymour -- a disruptive force along the line -- for four games because of a knee injury. It also helped getting Tedy Bruschi back, although he missed Saturday's playoff game against the Jaguars with a calf injury. Probably just as significant was that nose tackle Vince Wilfork improved in the second half of the season. Earlier in the year, Wilfork was being pushed back with one blocker in a lot of instances. Of course, a lot of the Patriots' second-half success stopping the run came at the expense of their weaker AFC East rivals. The Jets and Bills couldn't do anything against the Patriots in the four games in the second half. The Patriots come into the game with a lot of confidence, but they still have some fundamental problems.

-----------

Bruschi was there at Mile High and the defense was good. More than good enough.

Dillon, I don't care how nicked up he was, should have gotten more than 13 measly carries, and that turned out to be an eternal frustration for Patriots fans in the Belichick regime. Two (2) AFCCG's there and Blount got like ten carries in both games. Ridiculous.

This was a mess, but with a ton of warnings beforehand:

The Patriots were NOT focused on a threepeat. Belichick whiffed on it. It's part of the 'take the good with the bad' with Bill.

Rodney was hurt...and stayed in Atlanta for the game. Wait. What? For God's sake, you desperately need him in that locker room firing up his teammates before the game and on that sideline for every play.

I believe the team flew out a day or two before. Nothing to see here, no big deal, business as usual, just another game.

The Patriots have been even more historically putrid in Denver than they have in Miami.

Go ahead, read the above again.

After routing the Jags, they should have got packed and got out to Denver by Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest. This is the NFL playoffs, not a country club where you're lounging comfortably at poolside.

Belichick did not treat this game as seriously as he should have.

And Tom Brady? Tom did a precursor to his "I think we'll score more than fourteen points" SB42 back-to-bite-you-in-the-ass remark with a pregame "I hope I don't throw a pick to Champ Bailey".

The Patriots were fat & happy. And come game time they were tight, nervous and ready to be upset by Jake Plummer.

The officials sucked but you expect that.
I don't remember what show but I believe it was the day before on Friday, I saw an ESPN preview in which someone, I'd like to say Stephen A. said "There is NO WAY the Patriots will win this game in Denvuh. NO WAY."

I confidently believe that there is NO WAY in the history of the NFL a mediot ever said that about any defending Super Bowl champion, let alone a two-time defending champion. No way.

Did Belichick have this posted all over the locker room on Saturday? (sorry) I think the answer, sadly, is No way.

The 85 Bears.

NE finally makes it to a Super Bowl and they face the GOAT NFL defense.
'85 was huge, and hugely enjoyable, with great heapings of redemption and gratification.

From knocking out the hated Jets in NY, to eliminating the Raiders in LA, to ending the Jinx in the Orange Bowl, an unprecedented three road wins to get to New Orleans - all with a mediocre should-be backup behind center.

And it all happened because Eason got injured just in time against the Bills and Grogan did what he always did. Steve was creaky and rusty physically.

But not mentally. Never mentally.

If I had the chance to enter Raymond Berry's body right after he got carried off the Orange Bowl field, for just two weeks...

We've all seen seemingly unbeatable teams get upset at the end. The Bears were vulnerable and did have weaknesses...none of which Berry exploited let alone seemed to be aware of, except early jitters.

Berry's manlove for Eason torpedoed the Patriots chances in the 80's.

Eight in a row, my good man. 11 of 13, only one Red, only one Mr. William F. Russell

Nothing pisses me off quite like the 2015 regular season game in Denver. Absolute ****ing sham. (Also, 2015? I can't believe it's been 9 seasons since that happened). I have never been so angry in my life at a football game, and I would've been angry even if we had won in OT

Pick up PI flag on Gronk at the end of the Panthers game in... 2013? Forget which year.

The sheer amount of injuries in 2015. By the end of the year, the list included:

Blount
Develin
Dobson
Easley
Fletcher
Flowers
Brandon Gibson
Rufus Johnson
Chris Jones
Bryan Stork
Lewis
Solder
Tyms
Wendell
Edelman was banged up towards the end.. meh.

Tyree.

And pretty much a regurgitation of some of what's already been posted. **** Foles.
That 2015 team was beyond loaded too. Then just fell off the face of the earth with injuries in the second half. Gronk, Edelman, Lewis. Just a stretch of ridiculous injuries. I guess the only positives was James White finally getting serious run and that ended up with the 2016 Falcons SB.

I thought they had a legit chance to run the table too.

The Bears defense was too dominant.

NE offense for the day - 123 total yards, 4 fumbles, 2 INTs, 7 sacks, 7 rushing yards, 20:45 time of possession.

The 85 Bears only loss was vs Marino and that was because he got the ball away so fast that the Bears D could not stop him. The Pats had no such QB on their roster to have a chance.

My favorite non-SB team of the dynasty years, and Dion Lewis one of my favorite players to watch. 2015 Lewis was actually insane haha.

On the topic of "flukey", I think our 2013 team was just a flukey circumstance overall. Was my second favorite non-SB team with rag-tag nobodies as receiving options. Gronk hurt for over half the season, Amendola wasn't always available, so we were working with the likes of Kenbrell Thompkins, Josh Boyce, and Aaron Dobson. 12-4 with that awesome Saints last-second TD game winning dart from Brady to Thompkins.

I remember the cover of the Sports Illustrated clearly showing Jamie Collins being held from sacking Osweiler.

Edit - Whoops, not Collins. Didn't sound right after I posted it. It was #99, which was Easley.

Had there not been the injuries, they would've smoked Denver in both games and the AFCCG would've been in NE. The 2015 team would've been regarded as the 2nd best Super Bowl winning team of the BB era. 2004 team is my #1 SB winning team if everyone is healthy.

They also didn't call Barrett spearing Brady.
