Tom Brady says he's done "for good"

Favre unretired twice I believe. The last time was to go to a new team, the Jets.

There's always a possibility that a new team will move heaven and earth to try and get Brady to unretire. First clue I 'd look for is if that team gets Gronk to unretire first.
Brady just got divorced so he can continue to play football and he is quitting?

Got a little lump in my throat, sad to see him retire but thinking of how enjoyable those 20 years were, makes up for the other 30 years as a Pats fan. I guess a part of me was hoping he come back here for one year even though I knew it was a longshot. We're lucky, we'll never see football like that again in our lifetimes. Every game, every down was must watch. It's ovah!

Thank you for everything you've done for the Patriots and for us fans. 6 rings wouldn't have happened without Tom Brady. Congrats. Canton awaits.
6 rings, countless Big game moments, big time wins, comebacks, the 3rd & 10, the undefeated season, the connections with moss!!! 3rd down conversions under pressure in KC, I'd be here all day going through it.. however GOAT Thank you for everything.. We didn't win 6 rings until you came along.

I see him back here to sign the one day contract to retire as a patriot. It's only right for the GOAT to come back home...

Meh. Don't do that. Just waive the five year wait for the Pats Hall of Fame and induct him this August.

I understand the sentiment but they can't do that either. It would be unfair to the others who had to wait before him and those to come after.

This is sports. Certain players are objectively better and more important than others for both their on the field feats and their impact on a franchise. They get special treatment and Brady deserves it and anyone who disagrees I think is someone who just doesn't get it.

Think he got divorced because he signed a 10 year contract to continue his NFL routine. he'll be on the road same as before.

Didn't the NHL induct Gretzky into their league Hall of Fame literally right after he retired? Obviously the NFL won't do that but the freaking team should.

And ffs Robert Kraft might be dead in 5 years you think he wants to wait for this? Use your brain people.

Your emotional attachment is noted. It's football, the ultimate TEAM game and Brady probably would be the first to say he shouldn't have "special treatment" in that respect. Others in line have waited for the honor, some longer than five years so it only makes sense that the process is honored. Tom will be inducted five years from now, there's no need to hurry.

Tampa will put him in their Hall of Fame. I bet they put his statue up also. They LOVE what he did He gave them the best 3 years since the last time Tampa won a Super Bowl. We should be ahead of them don't you think?

I know there's been exceptions in other sports although off the top of my head I can't remember who but if you do it for anyone it's Tom Freaking Brady.

As much as I want to be the jersey not the man in it guy, it is so hard to not adore 12. I played linebacker in college in a blitz heavy scheme and was a QB hunter by trade. Accordingly, I always disliked them. Because I was a child. That bias prevented me from having the child-like joy most had watching Brady utterly destroy the league in his prime. I have never seen anything like that '07 team. My god what a show that was. I remember being in the car with my dad being driven back to prep school after Bledsoe got hurt and thinking to myself, "man, they're done for now". But more than anything, I remember 12 for the teammate he was. The way his men loved him and would gladly die for him. I have never seen such belief in a football team before. Finally, I'm just so lucky to be born where 199 overall ended up. What a player. There will never be one even remotely near as good as him again.

**** that. "Sorry Tom, we've got a logjam and have to schedule the ceremonies for Logan Mankins and Kyle Arrington. See you in 2028"

Like seriously, its sad for anyone to pull some hardo crap about him being 1 of 53. No, he wasn't.

I'm not asking the NFL HoF to do it. That's not happening the league is just too big. But the team should and obviously retire the number.

Glad to hear. He did not look like he was enjoying the game anymore.
Enjoyed his excellence and class while he was with us. Have to admit not so much when he left.
GOAT. Looking forward to honoring him at Gillette.

Kraft is in his 80’s, he may not be around to see an induction 5 years from now.

I think they should induct both Brady and Robert Kraft next season.

I agree, if professional hall of fames can do it Pats Place can do it. I think other players would understand the exception.
