Tom Brady says he's done "for good"

If Brady was quitting all along then why did he say that he did not know what he planned to do this year?

There was a sliver of doubt to not walk away that's why.
Favre unretired twice I believe. The last time was to go to a new team, the Jets.

There's always a possibility that a new team will move heaven and earth to try and get Brady to unretire. First clue I 'd look for is if that team gets Gronk to unretire first.

I think he is just sad that part of his life is over. He's been playing football for what, 40 years? Tough to let that go.
Time to go to Mike Vick's flag football league.

I agree it seems weird. However, I was born in Quincy, but have lived in Baton Rouge and New Orleans since I was 10 (Over 40 years now). I've never known what it was like not to root for both teams. Also, I went to LSU, so I have skin in that game!
If you ever run into Bill tell him we would like some of those LSU guys please.

Favre was 39 when he went to the Jets

It's different.

Congrats to the GOAT. Wish he had been a Patriot his entire career but that's the way she goes.
Would the Patriots pay for the weapons Brady needed to go for Lombardi#7, ie Devante Adams or Tyreek Hill. Or even lesser guys like Evans and Godwin.

I doubt it as that isn't how BB roles. If not, then that Tampa SB was worth it.

I know wishful thinking, yet what if there is a worthy team willing to move heaven and earth. Dang still day dreaming.

This is so bittersweet for me . Thank you Tom for a wonderful 20 years with the Patriots and so many amazing memories.
I didn’t actively root for while he was with the Bucks but ai will always love him and wish him nothing but the best for whatever endeavour he pursues !
We will hopefully see him back in Gillette when he gets his red jacket!!

Damnit, squeeze every last ounce of juice out of the gift you've been given. Didn't this guy still throw for over 5,000 yards being coached by Bowles? Leaving Superbowls on the table.

Edit: 4694 yards.

Most Passing Yards in a Single Season

5477 - Peyton Manning (34), 2013
5476 - Drew Brees (32), 2011
5316 - Tom Brady (44), 2021
5250 - Patrick Mahomes (26), 2022
5235 - Tom Brady (34), 2011

Here's another Brady fact...

40 TDs has only been reached in a season 19 times. Brady is 1 of only 2 to do it 3 times (Rodgers is the other).
9 QBs did it in their 20's.
8 QBs did it in their 30's (including Brady once)
2 QBs did it in their 40's (Brady twice)

If Tom meant what he said and stays retired, then he has risen the bar to obscene level, the next Qb to win 4 superbowl won't be seen as that impressive to me, 7 is now the standard.

Mahomes will be anointed if he wins his 2nd in a week. Which is why I’m temporarily a gigantic Eagles fan until that’s over.

4 SBs was always the barrier. Only Montana and Bradshaw have 4, until Brady. If Mahomes gets 4, he'll pass Montana, assuming he limits his loses to 1. Remember how Brady being 4-2 was used against him? If Mahomes loses and starts off 1-2 the media has to begin to question his greatness. But will they?
