I am deeply suspicious of Arians' coaching "talent." (I can't find the direct quote, but I remember Arians one time calling himself a great coach -- which, as a Patriots fan, seems really weird.)
Obviously I have on clue what really goes on behind the scenes, but whenever I see Arians getting buried with praise for coaching Peyton, Big Ben, Luck and Palmer, I can't help but wonder: maybe it's the other way around, and lucking into so many quality QBs has inflated his reputation. (And maybe it's about to happen again.)
In that list, there are three #1 overall picks and a #11 pick (Roethlisberger.) Yes, there are QBs taken in the first round who are busts, but Arians had some great talent to work with. When he was in Arizona, he never developed a successor to Palmer. You'd think a "QB Whisperer" would have found a mid-to-late round talent and guided them to being an effective starter. Instead, when Palmer was out, they really struggled.
