New season looks even better than last season, too. That’s quite a feat.
They will probably work from Julian Jaynes' work on contemporary tribes, from unpublished notes. They name-checked Jaynes' theory as the mechanism whereby consciousness can be primed, and it worked all too well, it seems... & Jaynes' mechanism (in the individual sense, termed as "suffering" when Anthony Hopkins talks about it) is occasioned by big stresses when the old gods are no longer available... the perfect reason/way for Dolores/Wyatt to go batcrap crazy. Anyway I'm deep in fanboy mode, apparently the redditors are way ahead of anything I've thought about, but I'm deep down the Jaynes rabbit-hole. I don't read their stuff.
Two questions:
1. How many hosts do you think are self-reflectively conscious? I think at this writing, two, Maeve and Dolores/Wyatt (among known hosts - about which more in a moment.)
2. How many people do you think are proven
not to be hosts? My answer at present is zero... one fanboy theory is that everybody is a host at this point in time. If that's the case, Anthony Hopkins might have been aware of this fact - I'm going to say, what if he was the last human - and he might have been fighting one group of robots to succeed in allowing the robot race to achieve consciousness before he died.
We won't know the answer to no. 2 for years, because the Nolans want to stretch this out. Just food for thought.
And if "last season was about control, this season is about chaos" translates to "it's just robot wars now," I don't know why I waited a year and a half LOL.
Is there a \W/ thread in the Pub?
