"Tom brady has the strongest arm in the nfl.."

LOL, absolutely not. I think his arm is under rated though. Good thing that doesn't matter. (See Jamarcus Russell)

Newton has a great arm too, some of the throws he's made to Smith this year were awesome.

Exactly, there's a big difference between raw arm strength and functional/situational arm strength -- i.e., how much you can put behind a throw without loss of accuracy. (Heck, JaMarcus Russell had an amazing arm, as long as you weren't too picky about where the pass ended up.)

Brady is able to thread a needle at top velocity, which gives him the "arm strength" to make throws that most QBs couldn't. They'd have to take something off the ball to hit a spot in tight coverage 15 yards downfield, which might give the DB that extra tiny fraction of a second to get a hand in.
This. Rodgers is the only guy in his league.

Brady's arm strength is attributed to his excellent technique. With good throwing technique a little goes a long way. However, there are videos from back in the day of Michael Vick winging it 50 or 60 yards from his knees.
Kyle Boller too. I was excited that he was about to get a chance to start again...

Personally I'm not too concerned about where Brady's arm strength ranks just so long that it's good enough to perform come Sunday.

Seeing him zip some of those balls over the middle in tight coverage on a weekly basis tells me it's just fine!

Also, IMHO I think the combination of brains and accuracy far outweigh arm strength, but that's just my take.

Apparently he is going to start this weekend. I just heard this about an hour ago on The sports hub headlines.

For all the crap A$ante $amuel gets for missing the INT earlier, why does Moss get off the hook for not catching that? It hits him right on the hands and it was only minimally-touched (if at all) by the DB.

Almost…so close.
Moss had to slow down to adjust to the ball…allowing the DB to close in and make the play. If Brady airs it out more…6 points.

No way. He's a dink-and-dunk noodle armed system QB who can't throw the deep ball. At least that's what I remember everyone saying when he first came up.

as always, it's not about the strongest arm, it's what you do with it

would anyone really take janikowski over vinatieri , both in their prime needing to make a clutch kick?

of course not

that's ******ed

Whilst arm-strength is one of those things that rarely matters (see Pennington, Chad), it is fun watching some of the QB's hurl the ball around like it's a tennis ball.

For me, the best arm in the league belongs to Roethlisberger - he has his detractors but he's accurate and he can effing hurl the thing. Got to mention Newton though - I was one of the few he thought he would be able to make the transition to the pro's, but his arm strength has truly shocked me. If he works on his technique he's going to have the best deep ball in the league.

Brady is under-rated for this, I reckon. You watch him hit those 20 yards outs and the football is going at a proper rate of knots. I do think that's part of the reason for some of our drops. Agree with the Saints fan - Brees is the most accurate passer I've ever seen. Great timing and touch. Stafford is one to watch too, he can really zip it into some tight windows.

i used to stand up for brady all the time when having discussions on who throws the best deep ball

i saw him throw beautiful deep passes vs the steelers in the playoffs, and there is one that stands out in my mind vs the falcons in the Ga. dome, that was just incredible, but people always just had no idea because the brady offense before 07 was always first and foremost referred to as "well the pats don't need a running game because brady's short passes are their running game'

people just got so wrapped up in that they forgot he throws a great deep ball, they came around alot once moss to NE happened

You're absolutely correct jc, before '07 and Moss that was the general consensus. Your boy Phillip can chuck the rock at an elite level also. I hope your guys piss-pound Rex and the Jests this week. It's a bye week so I'm a Charger fan this week.

Rex disrespcted Norv and I hope that locker room is fired up to defend the honor of their coach come Sunday. BB would never shoot his mouth off like that. I'd like nothing more than to see fat mouth and gang-green loose and their locker room split apart at the seams. Go Bolts!

Exactly what I took from the article: arm strength in execution of plays, paired with accuracy and awareness. For example, when you consider all those things: Reading the coverage, making the decision, accuracy, and velocity, I wonder how many other NFL QBs could have made that TD throw to Hernandez Sunday.

not many could... i think only aaron rodgers and brees could.

I think the REAL testament in this story is NOT whether Brady has the "strongest arm in the league", but that he's even mentioned in the equation. I defy anyone that can find an article about Tom Brady that states he has a big arm in his early years with the team I think you'll find quite the opposite to be true.

Unlike Mallet, Brady didn't come into the league carrying a cannon. Instead he built his own after many hard years of development. I think he's proven that, to a certain extent, you CAN improve your arm strength AFTER you come into the league through exercise and technique. Because you can't tell me that Brady came INTO the league with this kind of arm strength

um, ridicules , I think everyone knows I'm a Brees and Brady homer. But as much as I love Brees, he has no arm, but the most accurate in the NFL., maybe ever..and as much as I love Brady, amazing arm, perfect, but not Brees accuracy.
hmm then theres Rogers, better arm than both of them, but not as accurate as Brees or Brady. Brady is a better clutch player than Brees. But id be really surprised if either QB beat Rogers or Bradford for arm strength.
Brees is more accurate than Brady? Give me a break. When has Tom ever thrown 22 interceptions with weapons like Marques Colston and Jimmy Graham?

It's cool to stick up for your QB, but let's keep it real here. Brees is very good QB, but Brady is top 5 all time. Brees isn't even close to that. And he isn't more accurate than Rodgers, either.

Bradford doesn't have a great arm. I don't know what games you're watching, but Bradford isn't even top 10 when it comes to arm strength. Brady throws a much better ball. So does Rodgers, who has the best arm in the league.

It's cool if you want to make yourself feel like you have a hall of fame QB too, but do it without putting the legit ones down.

Maybe he has the strongest in the NFL now, but let's get one thing straight...

You're no Rohan Davey, Mr. Brady.
