Thoughts: what if the Vikings make the super bowl?

It would be a huge advantage all around: travel, logistics, and above all fan base. But I've been on record since before the season ended saying the Falcons would represent the NFC, so I get to pretend it's not an issue.
So much for all of the offseason talk around here claiming that the Falcons were permanently broken from losing the SB, and how they’d have a mediocre season at best.

The initial plan was to make the NFC team practice at the U of Minnesota since technically, the NFC is the visitor, but they said that if the Vikes make it to the SB, they can practice at home in their facilities and that the AFC rep would be the team that practices at the U of Minnesota.

That’s pretty much all we’ve heard from them so far.
and that would be the wrong thing to do..typical NFL

After reading the linked article from a few posts above, they claim that they’d also have access to their own locker room instead of being the NFC away team. I think that’s terrible.

Ultimately, I still think it would be better than facing the Saints, although not by too much. I’d rather play Philly or Atlanta, of course, but this conversation is premature since there are 2 games to win prior to that situation, likely including a swag laden pissed off Steeler team.

How disruptive would it be for the Vikes to use the visitors locker room? I would think that thing start to become second nature to a player who is going down the same tunnel to the same door to the same locker, then for one game your whole routine is broken. I'm not saying its a huge came changer, but routine is routine and can throw you off just a bit having it change.

We do?

This could be a significant development!

Just looked it up now yea the Afc is the home team for the Super Bowl and the home team chooses either Home/Away jersey, last year was the Nfc this year is the Afc, switches between the two every year

Anyone but Atlanta for me. I dont need any of those big revenge game narratives for two weeks straight. Rather see the Vikings or Eagles in the big one. Saints get a pass for being our deflategate buddies.

I think he'll go with the blue. If it came to pass he'll go with tradition and treat it like every SB.

Watch him do the opposite.

I'd love to see a Saints Patriots Superbowl. Brady / Brees is a glorious matchup.

I work in college sports, and although it is not quite the same as the NFL, I can say that when we host NCAA Championship events, we are not allowed to play any of our normal in game pump up stuff. We cannot even play our fight song! I'd imagine that if the Vikings are in the super bowl, they cannot do any of their normal home game crowd stuff, and it will be as neutral a game as possible. If the Pats, are there, I am sure there will be a ton of Pats fans in attendance
Teams in the Super Bowl get their touchdown song when they score, but I think that's about it. You'll hear 'Rock n Roll Pt 2' in the dynasty years... and most recently 'This Is Our House', after each touchdown.

Hope we wear white, the last 12/13 Super Bowl winners wore white jerseys, funny stat, pic from last year

Could be dangerous locale for Pat fans as you're outnumbered 100-1.
Except it's Minnesota and people are very nice - even to opposing fans. I've been there with GB fans to see Vikings/Packers and even though there's good natured ribbing, it's not like wading into Pitt or NY.

I know, it's anecdotal and a small sample but it's what I've against their biggest rival.

If the Vikings make the Super Bowl, it doesn't make a difference with how the tickets are allocated. So no real home field advantage with the exception of more Vikings fans buying tickets on secondary markets because they don't have to pay for hotels, etc.

I had Vikings vs Pats super bowl. Hope it comes true.

I don't think in terms of the crowd it's all that big an advantage. Unless the corporate-types decide it's trendy to root for the "hometeam", but even then it won't be like a typical homefield crowd. The advantage obviously comes from the logistics of traveling to the game suddenly being a lot easier, especially if they get to use their own locker room. But considering all the hooplah that will be around the facilities each team use, I don't think it's gonna be like a normal home game anyways.

A lot of people don't know this, but if the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl they'll still be the Vikings. Historically that's been a huge disadvantage.

Vikings are 0-4 in Super Bowls

Super Bowl IV
Chiefs 23
Vikings 7

Super Bowl VIII
Dolphins 24
Vikings 7

Super Bowl IX
Steelers 16
Vikings 6

Super Bowl XI
Raiders 32
Vikings 14

Lol only scored double digits once in four appearances still lost
