Here’s the thing - do you draft an average LB or a stud RB? They are saying Sony Michel is going to be very much like Alvin Kamara, who was rookie offensive player of the year. I’ll take that over Gillislee, Burkhead, and Hill.

I suppose NE could have taken Rashaan Evans had they traded up. However, many Alabama players don’t live up to the billing in the NFL.

A stud RB could go a long way in helping Brady's longevity. I'm keeping a happy thought that Michel with be Terrell Davis 2.0.

With guys coming off injuries and a few new FA additions, I'll remain hopeful that our 2018 defense will be vastly improved over the one that wasted Brady's 500+ yard superbowl performance.

What this team needed was a closer at RB, which I think Michel is. You can unleash this guy in the 3rd and 4th quarter when the other team’s D is wearing down. If we were able to kill the clock in SB 52 when we took the lead in the 4th it would have been a different story.

A stud RB would not only help Brady's longevity, once Brady is gone it would certainly help the transition to whoever the next QB ends up being go a lot smoother. Realistically, Sony will probably be in NE on his rookie deal for at least a year or two after Brady hangs it up.

Captain, you're definitely entertaining, but I think people would take you more seriously if you could do three simple things:

1. Not be so dramatic about every roster decision

2. Admit that at least one player you claimed Belichick was a fool to draft has turned into a very good player.

3. Admit that at least one player you claimed Belichick was a fool NOT to draft has turned into an absolute **** show.

That's it. It's not hard. But you do the same thing every year. You pan every pick and free agent signing, make up nicknames for all the awful players, yet magically never talk about them again when some turn out to be good.

Here, I'll even start it off. I didn't like the Richard Seymour pick, and we were wrong to take Gronk over DE Sergio Kindle. Just do it, you'll feel better.

Yeah I think some people forget that he was making the rest of that 1st round draft class look like a joke but I think it is less about the injury and more that he was sharing time with Dillon. That plus he broke off so many amazing runs I think he started falling victim to the whole 'try to hit a home run every time' thing.

Here’s the thing - do you draft an average LB or a stud RB?

Yep, I'm not a fan of drafting RB high in general, and I would have loved to see a stud LB. But the way the draft shook out, at #31 there just wasn't a round-1 caliber LB or DE on the board.

The next LB taken was Darius Leonard, a mid-major prospect who at 232 lbs. runs just a 4.70, and was projected as a 2nd-4th round pick. Nice player, but there would have been screams of "he would have been around later!" The next DE taken was a Rutgers product, so you have to assume the Patriots looked at him closely. Kemoko Turay is an intriguing athlete, but he was wildly uneven and oft-injured in college, where he didn't even consistently crack the starting lineup.

Meanwhile, even fans who hated the choice of position expect Michel to make an immediate and significant impact. And by pick #31, an RB is no longer excessively expensive (IMO the Giants were fools to commit $43 million to Barkley). So while it wasn't what I was looking for, I get the decision.

Here is me being a wet blanket.

On average Sony Michel fumbled the ball every 54.6 touches. If that continues you simply can't give him the ball even if he has a 5 yard average. This needs to be fixed or he will soon find himself in BB's doghouse. I know it's an issue for a lot of young backs. People assume it's an easy fix but not always. Some are able to fix it and some are not.

Some when fixing it slow down and it defeat the whole purpose of getting them in the first place.
