It's easy, and only takes a few moments. He was reportedly told he would have to, but we haven't heard any confirmation that it's been done and it doesn't guarantee him a spot on the 53. He was due to count $4.5M against the cap with a $3M salary. And he has a $3M dead cap figure.
If he is cut and they treat him as a June 1 cut, his dead cap would be $1.5M in 2012 ($3M cap saving) and $1.5M in 2013 ($3M cap saving). If they cut him and take the full dead cap hit this season he's a wash. If he restructures to $1.5M and remains his cap hit remains $3M.
$3M per year could pay 60-75% of a Lloyd contract for the next two years... And if Welker were signed to a $9M AAV deal allow you to have he and Lloyd on the roster for about $1M more than it cost to have Moss and Welker on the roster from 2008-2010.
The Patriots have never cut a veteran during the same year in which he re-negotiated his contract. If Ocho re-negotiates, then he's here to stay. It's bad business to cut a guy who just renegotiated to stay on the team and it will cause other players to be hesitant in re-negotiating.

So Anderson has a visit with a division rival..hope it isn't the jets
It's the Dolphins, but losing him to a division rival isn't something I am looking for although it is better than the Jets.
Anyone with a clue why the Texans would cut Eric Winston?
Just off the top of my head but I recall another....
Haynesworth restructured and was cut in the same year.

According to Sirius NFL radio, Michael Lombardi is reporting Kamerion Wimbley will be released later today. That is someone the Pats should go after if he doesn't get too expensive.
We've been throwing around that name for a while now, having that said I'm positive the pats don't sign him. Why are they cutting him?
Is it? I think the Jets may be third on the list of division opponents we should be worried about. It's the Dolphins, but losing him to a division rival isn't something I am looking for although it is better than the Jets.

Brandon Lloyd - WR - Rams
Sources close to the 49ers tell CSN New England that free agent Brandon Lloyd's visit with the team was likely a favor for agent Tom Condon.
It's customary behavior this time of year, done to help an agent show the rest of the league that there is a market for his client. So far, though, the 49ers are Lloyd's only known visit. His public campaigning to join the Patriots could be scaring off potential suitors.
MaryKayCabot: Breaking: #Browns will release defensive end Jayme Mitchell today, a league source told the plain dealer. Started 13 games last season.
