Bears coach Lovie Smith has been wanting to keep free agent tight end Kellen Davis in Chicago because he sees untapped potential in the athletic, 6-foot-7, 262-pound specimen.

Smith’s wish has been granted by management. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports Davis has re-signed for two seasons.

Here's a receiver to cross off the list that I was hoping the Pats might be able to add without breaking the bank.

Jaguars, receiver Laurent Robinson agree to five-year contract | jacksonville.com

Laurent Robinson, who caught 11 touchdown passes for the Dallas Cowboys last season, agreed to a five-year deal worth $32.5 million with about $2.5 million more in incentives. His gurantees are in the $14 million range.

Robinson, entering his sixth season in the league out of Illinois State, caught a career-best 54 passes for 858 yards last season in Dallas.

The deal is similar to the five-year, $34 million deal that tight end Marcedes Lewis signed last season. That had $17 million in guarantees.

Robinson caught 54 passes for 858 yards and 11 touchdowns last year with Dallas. That was after he was cut by the Cowboys and re-signed a week later. He also was previously was cut by Atlanta and St. Louis.

Robinson, 6 feet 2 and 194 pounds, is being counted on to provide a big target for quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who struggled in his rookie season.​

Hillis and many others would love to play for a SB contender. the Pats could have had a solid run game. Hillis last year before going down was tied for 1st in the NFL in yards after first contact. Missed opportunity.

Yeah, there is just stupid money being thrown around to certain guys. Robinson has the chance to be good, but he has had an injury plagued, up and down career.

I still think the Pats may end up with Lloyd for about the same per year as Robinson.

I see Lloyd wanting 7-8 mill a year...not sure if the pats will see the value in that if that is the case
