Folk is available at any time. His 2021 salary is guaranteed, and he is earning an additional $14K a week. No other team is likely to pay him enough to switch from this great deal. If the team needs him, then he will get even more. The team would negotiate a price for the rest of the year that, of course, has to be more than he would get for sitting.

The team has insurance. If Nordin is a failure, then whether he makes the Practice Squad is probably irrelevant, although Belichick might sign to the Practice Squad.

I’m a fan of decent prospects being given their shot, but this does feel like a gamble. Folk is a consistent vet and was surprised to see him cut. Hope the gamble works and pays off.
