Great win. I am not surprised the game was close. Division games are always tough. The team deserves a much needed break.

Ninkovich had a great game...

Ninkovich had a poor game (I want to say "awful" but he did do some things right). He gave up contain several times choosing to go inside instead of DOING HIS JOB. When will he learn? The first time I noticed it the running back got like 17 yards instead of stopped at or behind the LOS. The second time he allowed Geno Smith to run for a first down. I really wasn't paying a lot of attention to him but those were bad mistakes that there are no excuses for.

After that bomb to Veeren I thought this game was going to be a blowout. Well it didn't exactly turn out that way. I don't know if it was just the defensive scheme but the pats seems perfectly content letting the jets march up the field and kick FG just as long as they kept them out of the endzone.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the first punt of the game for the jets came in the 4th? I know the pats D held them to just a TD but the just for most of the game the jets scored every time they had the ball. . Smith was running all around the field and and Ivory looked like an all pro HOF player. Their run defense was about as bad I have seen it.

Offense continues to struggle. They had 5 three and outs and Edleman, who is always sure-handed, dropped a couple of wide open passes. Running game was not great. It was nice to see Amendola make a great TD catch and he was productive returning punts as well.

Jets would have won this game had there been about another 30 second on the clock. So the pats dodged a bullet there. Not a feel good win, but still a win regardless. It makes it that much better when it is against the jets. Hopefully BB can someone finagle it so they pats can get someone that can replace Mayo because he was clearly missed last night.

The only positives I saw were the the o-line holding up surprisingly well, and Brady scrambling outside the pocket to keep plays alive.

Outside of that, the rest of this game made me sick.

The Jets have one of the better front sevens in the league. The Jets have one of the better run defenses in the league. The Jets have one of the worst secondaries in the league. The Pats have the GOAT at quarterback. The Pats have the best TE in the game (when healthy). The Pats put up nearly 30 points primarily through the air without the assistance of a turnover from their defense. And... given all this, your plan is to take the ball out of the GOAT's hands and put it in either a change of pace/receiving back's hands or Jonas Gray's hands? Yeah, I think I'll go with what the Pats did all the way on up until the last series.

Having a more balanced attack actually helps out our passing game.

Offense
Clearly this line needs Stork and Connolly. After musical chairs, it is clear from their presence and their absence that they are two of the keys to the offense operating smoothly. Hopefully the long week allows them to recover, and they don't miss another snap. With Stork and Connolly in place, this should be a decent line.
The Cannon rotation can stop now. Yes, Solder is having a down season. Doesn't mean we need to sub him out for Cannon. Let Cannon play blocking tight end if there is some agreement to get him on the field.

Too bad about Dobson. He edges further down the depth chart. Tyms beat him out this game. The undrafted rookie who was suspended four games. Ouch.

I'm OK with this game plan. The Pats have won plenty of games without running. They didn't have two key blockers. They didn't feel good about going up against a terrific Jets defensive front seven without them. The weakness of the Jets defense is clearly the secondary. They drops by Edelman and Gronk hurt, but I think the plan made sense for this game. Spread them out and abuse the secondary. You can question all the roll-outs, but that beats getting Brady killed by Solder and Devey. They must have practiced that a ton. Not Brady's strength by any means, but probably a good call.

Gray could potentially be this year's Blount. He quickly supplanted White. I look forward to a little more of him in the coming weeks.

Yes, we all feel good for Amendola. He seems to be the best kick return option the Pats have seen in many years. Rested. Ready. Brady has to feel good about getting bailed out on a poor end-zone throw on the roll-out.

Defense

Clearly Collins is not the answer at MLB. Let's put Collins and Hightower at OLB, and put someone more squat and powerful at MLB. Skinner is much more stout and powerful. Fleming is more stout and powerful. Collins has speed and explosion, but not the power to play inside consistently. I think there are better solutions.

The Pats have given up too much rushing this season, both up and the middle and around the edge. That should be solvable.

Another embarrassing game for the officials. Bad calls and spots and decisions cut both ways. Some objective website should track the accuracy of officials calls and offer a weekly report. Bad officiating is weakening the game. I recognize the increasing rate of injuries, and support rules that can reduce injuries - like the kick-off change and head-hunting. The apparently random-defensive-holding generator ruins the game, however.

You can't say that because the Pats defense played that last series, KNOWING that their was only a minute left. So they gladly gave up two dump passes that basically killed almost 40 seconds. If they had tackled on of those last two completions in bounds the game would have been over. If their were an additional 30 seconds when the drive began, no way the Pats would have opened up in a three man rush like they did.

I'll read this thread later, I'm really busy now, but a few points:

- It was a short week, the running game would be affected for sure and I'm not against throwing against that secondary, some drops and again not our best line out there and still we scored 27 points and 3 TD's from the air, take away a couple drops and mistakes and it's 300+ yards for Brady again. Now with some kind of mini bye they can address the running game, including try outs with veterans.

- I like what I've seen so far from Casey Walker.

- People complaining about the passes for Vereen and Amendola look like people who never have played any ball game I'm sorry, in the heat of a close game not everything goes perfect, the receiver has to make an effort to make the catch too, and they did.

- Running defense was a disaster and bend don't break was not working at all, we made Geno Smith look like a Jay Flacco of life. When they changed the approach things went better, good to know this defense has the tools to adjust.

- The safety opposite to Dmac is still a liability, Tavon Wilson was on the field in a huge 3rd down for the Jets, that tells me he is outplaying Harmon and this is a huge concern. Vintage Chung was out there too yesterday. Thanks God Geno is awful and missed Amaro on that 2 point conversion.

- Geno smith wasted 40 seconds to move 10 yards in their final drive, a smarter QB there and we would be 4-3.

- From the top of my head, Brady now has tossed TD's to Edelman, Amendola, Laffell, Tyms, Gronk, Wright, Vereen. That's the diversity of targets we all wanted. So I'm ok if Edelman get's short of 1000 yards and 5 TD's, as long as everyone is moving the chains and scoring. Worried about Dobson thought, there is something going on there, he didn't unlearn how to play since he did a fine job in his rookie season and the few opportunities he had this year he caught everything. It must be related to his foot.

- Awful game by the defense, good game from the offense, against a rival who knows how to give us a hard time, I'll take that win, this team will keep improving.

I was shocked when the Jets went with an empty backfield for that 2 point conversion attempt. Really? With the way the Patriots defense was playing the run, you don't even try play action or, I don't know, maybe run the ball? A big thank you to their offensive coordinator.

Last week, Dennard got picked off in the exact same way that Lafell picked off a Jet. Last week, the announcer says, "Well designed play by the Bills" as the video clearly shows Dennard getting bumped off his coverage. This week, the announcer says, "Oh yeah, that's a clear penalty". No. It wasn't.

Does anyone know why CBS kept randomly shifting the Patriots logo at the scoreboard at the bottom of the screen to black & white? At first, I was thinking that it was to show who got a penalty but then I saw it when there were no flags. What was it for? And why didn't the Jets logo go to black & white? It was weird.

I hate when the Patriots play mobile Quarterbacks...for some reason Belicheck likes to go ultra conservative into this soft zone coverage and hoping the qb will "screw up" eventually.

contrast that to the last two weeks when we faced imobile qb's like orton/dalton and we played super agressive.

I hope belicheck gives up this kind of strategy because it doesnt work.

This revisionist history of Dobson having a fine rookie year needs to stop. Brady completed 50% of his passes to him and Dobson is probably the worst run blocking WR on the team. Dobson came into this year needing to prove himself just as much as every WR not named Edelman.

I think he just was behind the curve, and a Veteran looking for his shot in a pass heavy offense (lafell) siezed the spot. and thus far, Tyms has shown a better ability to snag those "hard to catch passes"

It stinks that Dobson so far appears to be a bust. BUT at least someone has stepped up. I didnt care who it was. as long as someone did. and we have Lafell on a reasonable contract
