The Pats already traded their 2019 3rd in the deal that got Danny Shelton and the Cleveland 5th (which was then turned into Patterson and a 6th from OAK).

AFAIK, the Pats won't officially receive those comp picks until next March and can't trade them until then.

Technically, they can trade a different pick with conditions that eventually make it the comp pick instead. The Collins trade was for the Browns' 2018 4th, with the condition that it would be a 2017 compensatory 3rd round pick instead if/when they received one.

Either way, we still have a 3rd round pick this year at #95, so I’m a bit confused as to what the debate really is. They have four high round picks and then could trade the third if they’d wish to gather more mid-late rounders, I suppose.

There is obvious correlation between scoring high on tests like the SAT or Wonderlic and having a high level of intelligence. After all, it’s not just about answering correctly, but doing so at a rapid pace. I think it’s safe to say that scoring in the 99th or 100th percentile would suggest that someone had a much higher level of intelligence than just about anyone else who has attempted to take the exam. For me, there’s not much to debate, there.

And the whole “cure cancer” statement was obviously some tongue in cheek, hyperbole. That said, I take the reports of these scores with a grain of salt, but if there are kids who are graduating with undergrad communications degrees who are getting perfect scores, then God bless them. They are some smart football players.

I'm not saying that such tests don't measure "intelligence" at all, just that they only measure a small part of what comprises effective intelligence. And, even then, the correlation isn't all that strong. People who regularly practice taking such tests can improve their scores significantly, just as people who regularly practice passing a football or reading a defense can get better at it.
