Rooting for the Colts.

Last years week 17 was painful not just because we missed the playoffs but because we had to root for the Jets.

Looking at this years schedule, with the Colts playing the AFCE and the two 2nd round picks of Tenn and Jax. We are going to have to root for the Colts during 7 different games. Ugh!

The Colts don't need us to root for them. Besides, showering that much is bad for your skin!

No. I would not root for the Colts vs the AFCE. I am much more concerned with playoff seeding that with the other AFCE teams records.
As far as Jax and Tenn, again home field is more important than getting a 2nd rounder a few slots higher.

Sorry, but draft pick placement is not a reason to root for the Geldings.

If we learned anything last year, its that a team makes its own destiny. Having to rely on another team to make the playoffs, well, it just doesn't work. Even the playoffs isn't enough of a reason to root for the Geldings.....dang, I feel dirty just talking about rooting for the Geldings

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

I won't root for the Colts over the draft picks. I don't really care all that much. I'd rather just see the Colts lose and have worse draft picks to be honest.

When it comes to them playing against the East, I won't really care. I'm hoping this is a season where we don't have to care much about what other teams are doing because the Pats will handle their own business.

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

I look at it in a more positive light: If the Colts lose those games we'll be happy, and if they win they win those games, we'll be happy.

I don't know if anyone can state it any better. Good post.

Kinda like the Red Sox fan that every day bet $5 on the Yankees to win. If the Yankee's lost he was happy. If they won he made $5.

:agree:

And besides, there's always the Texans to root for . . . if you can forgive them for drafting C****r B****n.

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

I won't mind rooting for the Colts... so long as they're losing every other game on their schedule

Agreed. Don't root for rivals even if it's to the benefit.

One or two spots won't matter to "Trader Bill", if they aren't in the right spot he'll put them in the right spot.

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

The Colts aren't even in the same division as the Patriots. I'd love them to win all the 'needed' games.

Exactly. Beating the Colts and getting HFA for the playoffs is much more important than the status of some 2nd round draft picks. OP's thought of rooting for the Colts is a nonstarter.

Still a rival team in the league whose wins/losses can have a huge impact on the team's seeding in the playoffs and could mean playing them at home or on the road...

I apply the same rule to 31 teams not named "The New England Patriots". If a team's winning helps the Patriots, I want them to win. If a team's losing helps the Patriots, I want them to win.

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

Unless a playoff spot is riding on it, I will NEVER root for the Colts or Jets.

I hope the Colts go 7-9.

Re: The one downside to our extra 2nd round picks.....

Well they are playing each other this year.

Well, there he could just go for the tie and still stay within the bounds of his pledge....

Then I'm rooting for a massive case of explosive hershey squirts to run rampant through both locker rooms.

Edit: Just checked the schedule. The Colts-Jets game is Dec 27. I guess by then we'll know which team to root for. I hope it's not the Jets. I still feel dirty for rooting for them at the end of last season.
