After Brady throws a pick, are you upset with his lack of effort to tackle?

Re: Defense? What defense!!!

Well they only allowed 27 points today, so the Pats should have won.

shoulda, coulda, woulda...When the chips were down the D went fetal

Let's see next 6 games who they are, and who can they stop. I'm laying over under at 5, the #of teams that will pass for over 350 yards against this D, or # games this D wil allow over 350yds passing

Raiders
Jets
Cowboys
Steelers
Giants
Jets

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

Bill O'Brien isn't the defensive coordinator.
Did you read what i posted? You take the pressure off the Defense by keeping the ball out of Fitzpatricks hands. BTW the defensive coordinator is BB, if you didn't know.

The bottom line to me is that no matter what came before, you need to be able to stop a team with the game tied in the fourth quarter.

Should the Patriots have been in that position? No. But, once they got there, that's where they were. And they gave up 79 yards in about 30 seconds.

That is simply unacceptable and you can't win with a defense like that in November and December. Fortunately, it's only September, but if that doesn't change, this team can't possibly go deep in the playoffs, assuming it makes them.

Excellent, Excellent post. spot on.

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

then why cut james sanders, who was the glue of the defense secondary

Don't know. I questioned that move since it was made. I was not impressed by Sergio Brown at all during TC and Pre-season. Guy doesn't tackle well. He doesn't attack the ball carrier.

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

I posted this in the other thread, but that one seems to be an impostor official thread

I wouldn't put a whole lot of this on Brady. 4 picks is a horrible thing for your stat line, but 2 tipped balls, Ocho got beaten like a red headed step child and lost position, and the safety on the Gronk throw just made a great play. They weren't gift wrapped interceptions, and I think most QBs would still make those throws.

The defense is awful though. It's otherworldly how bad they are. I think the best course of action would be for them to just let not try for a half, and let the Pats hurry up wear down the oppositions defense.

I didn't feel good about this game all week though, these aren't the same old Bills, and their team in fans seem to have a guy to stand behind with Fitz.

You know what, the Defense should be able to make one damn stop when called upon to do so. Isn't that what they are paid to do? We can't rely on the offense to always keep the pressure off the defense. At some point, these guys have to make a play.

I stand corrected, earlier I said 3 game losing streak up through jets game. Wit this team, lack of talent, poor coaching, and skiddish Brady, the next 6 opponents are likely to beat the doors off of this team. We may be looking up at the Bills and Jets when this season is over

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

I agree.

You're up 21-0 on the road against a good offense. You run the ball to run the clock down and take the crowd out of it.

Why were we still throwing at that point? There was almost ZERO run at that point. PATHETIC. We have Mankins, Waters, Light, Solder, and a stable of running backs that are more than capable of moving the chains. O'Brien was obviously going for stats (not wins) so he can land a HC job next year.

Why are we risking injury to Brady, Gronkowski, and Welker when we're up 21 points. and Brady cannot continue to throw 40+ times every game. He's human.... like Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Mike Vick, and every other QB to ever play the game.

His arm/body is going to break down if he continues throwing this much every game.

Besides a couple bursts from Ridley, this team couldn't run the ball if their life depended on it. Did you see them get stuffed repeatedly at the goal line? Lawfirm probably averaged less than 3 yds/ carry too.

I sincerely hope Belichick uses our 1st 3 picks in the draft next year on defense. This should have been an eye opener that it's not that good.

Re: Official Pats-Bills postgame show/thread

This game just makes the cutting of Sanders and Meriweather seem bizarre. I know there are issues with both of them, but you can't tell me the secondary would not have performed better with Sanders and Meriweather out there instead of Brown and Barrett.
Bingo, we have bingo.

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

I was going to hold off from posting..but when the perverbial ref card get thrown out there... well it's grasping at straws time

Only someone with no knowledge of the game would say that the "ref card" isn't valid. The "personal foul" call on Love was absolutely BOGUS. Love's arm was across Fitzpatrick's shoulders and NEVER touched the helmet.

The next play, the "illegal contact" call on Bodden never happened. Bodden never actually made contact with Donald Jones beyond the 5 yard line. I watched the play 3 times and the camera never left Jones.

Either of those two calls don't happen and Buffalo doesn't tie the game when they did.

Just a thought, but who turned this Pats team into the Chargers overnight? is lack of football IQ infectious? Because that was the worst situational football I've seen out of a Pats team since the botched fake punt in the playoffs last season. Actually it's probably worse because the mistakes were constant throughout the game. Can't turn the ball over 4 times and win.

When/why did Bill Belichick turn into Tony dungy?

Great defensive coach turns into a Offensive minded coach the moment their qbs become great.

Excellent, Excellent post. spot on.

I'm not so sure they will make the playoff's. Thsi defense is WORSE than last year and have further to go. No sure what BB was thinking going 4-3(ish) in a sseaon with no off season.

If that happens, then I lay the blame at the feet of our illustriuous coaching staff and Personnel dept. They picked the talent, and coach the team. Brady is doing the best that he can. It's not his fault that there is no talent on defense.

Gang....what's up?

Sucky game. After watching Brady I realized one thing....we have our focus on the marathon, not the race.

He didn't get too worked up....yeah, he threw 4 picks, rare game. Didn't seem too down but rest assured he wil be every bit as hard on himself this week in practice as he has been other weeks, irregardless of the loss.

Kind of comforting to hear Brady's presser. Step away from the ledge.

It would however be nice to get better on D, just get better.

Seems to me someone else on this team needs to step up, when Brady is having a bad game. Who picks our leader up? We need co-leaders like I have said previously on this forum. Can someone step forward to pick up our qb when he has a bad game. Must be frusterating for him knowing if he throws a pick, then no-one has his back, and that more or less puts points on the board for the other team. Does this team and/or organization not realize what it has? Get some LEADERS IN THERE.

..and btw, I can hear other people freaking out on 85. If he needed to flatten that route out a bit then he will know next time, why not make that mistake now, while the whole team was going south.

..or and Welker, for god sakes pay that man kraft, pay that man well. I can not think of any other receiver I would want on this team catching the ball form 12 than Welker. Absolute beast.

We'll live to fight another day, as Brady said. We lost this fight, but we have bigger goals. Corrections and character need to be made first.

Let's learn our lessons and move on to Oakland

Re: Bill O'Brien Lost this Game

And you take pressure off the passing game by keeping the other team out the endzone.

To be fair, I thought the defense gave the offense plenty of chances in the second half to extend the lead. After a brutal end to the first half, the defense came in and shut the door, but the offense couldn't put the game away.

I thought the story of the game for 57 minutes was the offense failing to put the game away. But once it got to the last 3 minutes, the defense had to do its job and it failed pretty horribly and dramatically.

I feel this way too.

I don't think the fix was in, but the refs were terrible for both teams. I felt like leaving half way through the game because of how bad they were making it.

Re: Time to give up on the one gap 43 aggressive D that cant stop anyone

What are you talking about? You think the defense players performed today?
When? There was zero pass rush, receivers were wide open, we couldnt come close to stopping the run. When the game was on the line the drove the length of the field in about 16 seconds.
What calls by the referees are you using as an excuse to avoid admitting this may have been the worst defensive effort I have ever seen from this team.

I'm talking about reality. YOU are talking some wishful fantasy. The reality is that the Pats depth doesn't allow them to play the way they did back in 2003 or 2004.

As for "driving down the field in 16 seconds", that is because of two absolute BS calls. If the correct call is made on the 1st down play, it's 2nd and 10 from the Buffalo 5 and no one knows where it goes from there. Instead, it was 1st and 10 from the 20. Which led to the 2nd bogus call. The one where Bodden didn't touch Jones past the 5 yards, yet they called it anyways..

And no, I am not ignoring anything. I leave you to ignore things. You do it so well. Probably better than anyone on this board.

Did the defense play great? No. But they showed some good stuff in the 1st half. A half decent pass rush (2 interceptions and 2 holding calls). Things fell apart in the 2nd half. But god forbid you look beyond your b!tching and moaning.
