The Official Vrabel vs Ben Johnson Discussion Thread

If they know they want Vrabel, lock him up asap and do not risk him going elsewhere

Its kind of obvious Vrabel should be the HC
Just like it was obvious Ladd Mcconkey should have been the pick at 34
They screwed that up, I could see them screw up the HC hire
That's the problem. They should humble themselves and recognize that they shouldn't trust anything that they think they know right now. This organization has been an absolute **** show for the last half decade. Dysfunctional as it gets. Ownership having to force the decision makers to collaborate with each other, a botched succession plan, firing a coach after 1 year, coordinators mocking their interview process, terrible drafts, no players wanting to sign here. It's an absolute clown show.

If there's anything this organization should have learned it's that they don't know **** about **** lately. They're reaching a point where if they want to hire Vrabel, then that's probably a warning sign that they shouldn't hire him because they can't get anything right lately. They should be gather any and all feedback about their operations before they trust their instincts on anything.

Ya I wonder how half the board on here gets away with this at work all day? Us old farts didn’t even have enough time to sit on this all day .. oh to be young again

I've worked full time remote for going on 8ish years.....I've got a personal computer next to my work setup, all of my time on these sites is off of the Firm network.

We may not know for weeks,

It could still go either way.....if the interview with Johnson doesn't go well tomorrow, they'll probably move to working a deal out to Vrabel; if it goes well they the will probably want to do a second in person interview (I have a hard time seeing the Krafts extend an offer based on a 3hr call)...and when that can happen will depend if the Lions get to the superbowl or not.

Now reporting on interviews is a thing? Has it always been a thing?

Yes, we just haven't gone through it in the age of social medial

Wow.. means Aaron Glenn did not want to be seen as another Rooney rule candidate and feels strongly about his chances elsewhere and realizes he is backup candidate for pats when they don't get Vrabel or Johnson.

That's signs of a confident leader and very high levels of conviction and self respect. Whomsoever gets him is a lucky org. My guess is he goes to Jags or Bears.
Idk why he’d be seen as a rooney rule candidate when the Pats already fulfilled that. It’s more likely that he was told via back channels that the Patriots have their eyes set on a particular candidate and doesnt want to waste his time.

That's why it likely won't be Ben Johnson.

60 Vrabel 40 Johnson, if Vrabel takes a job elsewhere Johnson moves to 80 percent.
If Vrabel is available and we schedule a second interview wirh both Johnson and Vrabel it’s 55 45

Saleh being interviewed by Raiders actually makes a lot of sense for them... (but not for him).
It's another clown show organization.
I think he's a good coach, really good D tactician. But not a good manager or politician - which you have to be.
Another reason I like Vrabel for the Pats - he knows how to schmooze, full of charisma, but also a hard ass on the football X's & O's.

I think best available option is going to be Robinson....is he a star LT, no but he should buy us a couple of years to get the next guy in place....but they have to keep looking for the next guy, just not say we have a LT, we're good.

And don't get tied up too much in how much he gets paid...it is probably going to look like a significate overpay.

I would take either of the Rams tackles, Jackson or Noteboom over Robinson, who I really don’t want. And I’ll definitely get worked up if they overpay him. That’s how you build a ****ty team, overpay mediocre players out of desperation. I want them to build a great team, and that means making smart decisions, overpaying jags is the opposite of that.

Are these Bovada odds?

Same, full time remote work since 2020. Work in my office with my work machine hooked up to mounted dual monitors, but I keep my personal MacBook parked on the desk off to my left that I fiddle with during really dull conference calls (there’s a lot of those)

If we schedule a second interview with BJ
Then they are totally in on him because that interview probably won’t be till February
Vrabel probably will not wait that long because he could get squeezed out waiting

Ha, same here, except my MacBook is on the right

All things equal this makes sense, but I think the chances for Johnson are much lower because of his schedule.

No way the Patriots hang around that long.

Sorry Bustamove - just saw your post.

If they get a verbal agreement they could hire most of his staff and get them on board while they wait for him.
The fear would be Patriots get McDanieled.
