You guys will be fine- their safeties can't cover, and their depth at corner is no good. You won't be able to run on them, but Brees will do fine. Brady was just really bad today, I dunno what's up. I think he might be hurt

Yeah I though ARI had a better defensive line and we did ok. Thats good to know, talib can be a real problem. Wasnt watching them … well because who would
Well we cant run anyway.
Im starting to think so to. I guy pointed out that Brady didnt even play well in our game. Im kind of worried about him.

Haha Archeryaddict12 I think you've 'liked' about 100 of my posts today

Nice to know someone seems to agree with me though

LOL, look at your post Hahahahahahaha.

Teams lacks an identity on offense and the only stable unit -oline is playing through one of its worst stretches ever. They need to scratch out a couple of wins somehow and figure out how they are going to play the 2nd half during the bye. McD has to figure out a way to have all these guys work together and efficiently. our 2nd half scoring esp 3rd Q scoring have been abysmal .Today and last week are exactly the same . 6 pts in the 2nd half and a miracle td drive last week.
The oline needs to step up .Nothing more pressing than that right now.wont get any easier vs the fins Dline.

he was babying his ring finger on his throwing hand in the second half and talking to McD about it....could be...he was below average today

I was waiting for someone to bring this up, as I didn't want to myself for fear of causing an overreaction.

Obviously he was fine to complete the game, and we can go into the bye week after the next 2 games which will help too, but yes--there were multiple times when the camera caught him flexing and looking at his hand/finger.

One thing I love about him though, is that you'll never hear a word about it. The guy plays through lots of things that we don't even hear about for months later at the end of the season. His performance on SNF vs Pittsburgh in 2010 was brilliant with that broken foot/toe/ankle, whatever the hell it was. When I watched him pre and post game he couldn't even put much weight on it, and yet again--we never heard much of anything about it.

If that were Manning or any number of players, it'd be all you'd hear about. The dude is a warrior, and I think that is not recognized by many fans in the NFL. He may be a good looking, metrosexual warrior who dresses a little fruity at times, but he's a very tough player on the field.

you just need love when feeling down. We're with you, take a couple days. Your going to the SB, just step back. These are learning experiences.
Patriots are coming, its obvious.

Not sure they're going to the SB, but thanks for well wishes from Saints nation.

In the meantime, I think we have a ton to be proud of in terms of overcoming so many obstacles since the late spring/summer. These guys just continue to play as a real "team" despite who is in there, and no matter what talent has been injured/gone/imprisoned, etc.

They just need to shore up a few issues, but I think they can make a deep playoff run again. That itself is incredible considering the circumstances.

I had a Really bad week , helped some.

No pass rush . . . that is all.

Putting aside whether or not the penalty was justified, can anyone of you who think the game was fairly officiated, explain why the same penalty was not called on the Jets when they used the same scheme to try to block the Pats field goal. Funny who how strange things seem to favor the Jets, since Goodell became commissioner. Of course when Polian and Dungy were on the competition committee, strange things happened to favor the Colts.

We have the Steelers also before the bye week. After today we can easily be 5-4 going into the bye week.

... well that's assuming by easily you mean losing 3 straight and 2 straight home games to teams who don't have a wining record. But yes that would be the pessimistic view.

They actually rushed the passer good in the pocket...It's when he left the pocket that hurt the patriots.

Respect. But that's not what I saw. I saw a very comfortable Geno Smith for most of the game. Furthermore, and more troubling, that includes even when he was being blitz. The blitz didn't get to him once. That's just one layman's opinion.

Just want to say, Devin McCourty was all over the field yesterday. Beast! Hope they get him locked up longterm sooner rather than later.

He's been overlooked because of Aqib Talib's dominance, but make no mistake about it, McCourty has been a very steadying FORCE at safety. He is usually in good position to make a play and he has played corner or taken a TE man-to-man very well this season. That guy will never get the respect he's due, I suspect, because of that atrocious second year at CB.

However, I am bummed. I'm not bummed so much over the loss as I am over the discouraging D. We finally had a top-five D that I really really really felt was going to frustrate the remaining teams on the schedule. I really felt we finally had a championship caliber D, as it could defend the run AND the pass. We finally had a top player and all levels of the D.

What happens? Wilfork done. Mayo done. Talib out indefinitely. That's three defensive captains and all would have likely made the Pro Bowl/All-Pro teams (usually used as some sort of measuring stick). You can't really replace any of those players, especially in the relatively short amount of time that each injury occurred (Mayo and Talib in the same game). Even Tommy Kelly was a big loss. Now we have a D that looks more like the last few seasons again.

Hightower looked lost for long stretches of the game. I remember a big thing being made of the fact that he wore the green dot at times in training camp/preseason, but he was just downright confused on some of the plays yesterday. The guys on the interior D-Line played about as well as you could ask. Chris Jones was a monster. It just wasn't enough. It's really a lot to ask of so many young players. We'll just have to hope they continue to improve as the season progresses, but there will be a lot of frustrating moments and possibly losses as they continue to develop on the job.

regarding the D.

Bright spots were McCourty, Ryan, Harmon, Chandler Joned, Vellano and Jones.

The thing that is really letting us down is IMO. Hightower and Spikes can be isolated and then taken advantage of in Pass D. Unfortunately it's just to big a weakness. Every game we see it, empty backfield RB split wide gasses Spikes/Hightower. Seam route Hightower in trail.

Tieing in to that is Ninkovich. Now I love him as a football player. But the reality is that he is not a rushing threat. He will get the occasional coverage sack but he is a good "football player". That's great in certain situations but IMO what this team needs is a Bruce Irvin type one dimensional 2nd/3rd down rusher who just pins his ears. If they want to run to that side good that plays in to Spikes and Hightowers strength.

IMO that's what this D is missing and maybe they think Collins will be it, we'll see.

Actually, I seem to remember McCourty getting a sack on a blitz.

Each team had four sacks. Pass rush wasn't that bad yesterday.

The problem was the Pats pass defense was just not very good on third down, and the Jets defense was.

Without Wilfork, Mayo and Talib, and rookies and back-ups thrust into starting roles, we're going to see some pretty bad defense again.

Jones and Jones had the four sacks...

Just occurred to me that the Jets had more third down conversions in the first couple of minutes of the game than the Patriots' offense had for the entirety of a 70 minute game.

With the balls over 20 yards being very difficult for the Patriots to complete at the moment, they are trying to force them way too often on third down. Way too many low percentage pass attempts when the team only needs a few yards. Seems to me that shots down the field should come earlier in series if at all, and on third down not at all unless it's wide open.

I think McDaniels is in love with the vertical game. It's the only reason I can think of for getting rid of Welker and Woodhead who excelled in the short, posession, passing game.

McDaniels is trying to make Brady into something he's never been.

Definitely A factor. Can't say if it's THE factor without counting how many of those are "jailbreak" sacks and how many are coverage sacks.

Wendell is the weak link, he'd be a back-up on most teams.

The loss sucks the morning after but on the plus side, the Pats would be in a 3-way tie for the bye given that the Chiefs and Broncos are in the same division. Am I correct on this? I'm on my first cup of coffee and am not awake yet, lol...
