Win next week and go in to the bye week 6-2 with a 3-1 div record i would say i would have taken that at the beginning of the year.

Lets us continue to work on timing and our general play for a run to the end of the season. If we get to 6-2 all we need is a 5-3 finish to the season and we are basically guaranteed playoffs. Once there anything can happen.

We have the Steelers also before the bye week. After today we can easily be 5-4 going into the bye week.

Even though I liked your post, and I did, I've got one point of contention:

It took an offseason of incredible incompetence on the part of the "GM" to get this team to the point where the greatest offensive lineups in history have turned into this steaming turd.

Congrats Bill! You've taken the best team in the league and turned it into a mediocrity, in just one season. I sure as hell hope your changes improve by the factor of about 1000 that they'll need to in order to get this team just back to where it should have been.

Hernandez was no one's fault but his own.

Welker leaving HURTS like hell, I agree, but the Pats laid turds like this with him, as well.

Other than that, Welker, what's the screw-up?

Chandler Jones had a 15 yard penalty as well.

care to point that one out?

OK...I see the other responses too.

The ESPN and CBS Sportsline show a 15 yard penalty but NO ATTRIBUTION on a tackle for no gain on Ivory by Jones.

Football Database lists Chandler Jones for TWO penalties totaling 20 yards, the fifteen yarder being a roughing the passer penalty. That one was three weeks ago I think, right?
http://www.footballdb.com/penalties-player.html?tm=19&yr=2013

what is this, a mystery call?

Patriots always have 2-4 hiccup games a season. I think they'll be fine. Tom has to improve that long ball though he still has all the physical tools just his mechanics have been off.

care to point that one out?

First play from scrimmage after the FG that made it 24-27. Ivory ran to the outside and Jones chased him down for no gain and while on the ground Jones gingerly shoved off of him.

Gumbel even thought it was a weak call.

Nothing really came out of it other than instead of punting from their 20-30 yard line, they punted at midfield.

I'm not a frequent poster but I've got a few thoughts...

The Oline played terrible...

Brady had a very poor game, but it is always blamed on his young receivers...

The call at the end of the game is the first time in my life I have ever seen it called...it truly makes someone wonder about the integrity of the game...

And last but not least...the combo of Spikes and Hightower without Mayo to cover up how bad they are, verges on in competence by the coaching staff. They are terrible. I'm a 45 year old former Army Ranger with back, hip, knee, and ankle problems, and truly don't think either of them could cover or catch ME in the open field. Collins and Fletcher would have been playing every down over these two turds.

I couldn't understand why they didn't put Collins or Fletcher in to play Mayo's role the way the Jets were taking advantage of Hightower in the passing game.

It does two things:

- it gives them a great matchup advantage having Hightower trying to cover a receiver who is much faster and athletic.
- it takes away Hightower from what he does best

Also, when Kerley was killing us, why didn't we just bracket him like we've done the past few games against top receivers? Kerley isn't a top receiver like Graham and Julio, but it was obvious he was Geno's security blanket on critical downs.

Not new at all. Decades old. The rule is that on 4th down and on ALL plays in the last two minutes of a half a fumble can only be advanced by the fumbler. If any other offensive player recovers the ball is spotted at the worse position of the spot of the recovery or of the fumble.

You can thank the Raiders for this rule.

Thanks a lot. Like I said, I knew about the 4th down part, but either forgot about or was ignorant of the last 2 minutes piece.

And the NFL films piece on the "Holy Roller" is great, great stuff.

The Jets moved to within a game of the Patriots (5-2), having split the season series. Imagine that: They're one game behind "the almighty Patriots," as newcomer Josh Cribbs called them, with nine to play. Some folks predicted a four-win season for the Jets. The way their defense is playing, it would be a disappointment if they don't double that.

To stun the Patriots, who have won so many games over the years on weird penalties and rulings (dare we mention the Tuck Rule?), put a big smile on Ryan's face.

That last part is hilarious. So many games on weird rulings? Huh?

From the jets writer on ESPN :bricks:

Just occurred to me that the Jets had more third down conversions in the first couple of minutes of the game than the Patriots' offense had for the entirety of a 70 minute game.

With the balls over 20 yards being very difficult for the Patriots to complete at the moment, they are trying to force them way too often on third down. Way too many low percentage pass attempts when the team only needs a few yards. Seems to me that shots down the field should come earlier in series if at all, and on third down not at all unless it's wide open.

Guys, we spent the entire week making fun of the saints fans for cmplaining about the refs. Let's not turn into them.

That could never happen, hehe, we are just sore losers. You have legitimate bad calls to discuse, unlike us lol. The karma threads are fun to read today, have to say.

wish you won though

What about the illegal pick on Gronk?

PF on Chandler for little push?

No PI on Dobson's back shoulder drop?

The illegal pick on Gronk was ridiculous.

The PF on Chandler was lame, but the pick on Gronk was the right call, and there was no PI on that throw to Dobson.

For the most part, from what I've seen the people who we're ridiculing saris fans for whining aren't whining today. Either way, I didn't get sick of the saints fan reaction until like Tuesday- it's common to ***** about refs, even more so when a flag literally ends the game, but I hope pats fans will get over it and move I in a day or so if they haven't already. I do agree that any pats fan who's complaining today after ridiculing saints fans is a hypocrite, even if their complaints are more valid than saints fans' were.

Least the Broncos lost, that was fun to warch

Half the Jets wins this season are the result of late game penalties on the opposition.

Not a recipe for long term success.

Or doesnt, lol, I think it lasted over here longer than on B&G ,lol. Yep you will. It pizzas you off at first because you think they tainted a perfectly good game. This might sting for a few days, because its the jets, but it will be forgoten by friday.
Brady was really off today, I think, is their defence that good? because we have to play them

Their secondary is average at best and their linebackers are middle of the road...all the Saints have to do is blitz dwarf ears and they'll win by 4 scores

You guys will be fine- their safeties can't cover, and their depth at corner is no good. You won't be able to run on them, but Brees will do fine. Brady was just really bad today, I dunno what's up. I think he might be hurt

On three consecutive plays today Brady fumbled, fumbled, and then threw a pick six to the JETS.

This guy is not even close to being the same QB who hasn't won a Superbowl in a decade. He has gotten much worse.

He was the NFL's #23 rated QB before today's debacle 2013 NFL Player Passing Stats - National Football League - ESPN

He will be much lower after this game.

This is a stupid post.

Not only is Brady playing with a ton of new receivers, but his o-line might as well be BRAND NEW as well because they are not even remotely close to how good they were last year. We were top 5 in the league in LEAST allowed sacks last year. This year, we're in the top 5 for MOST SACKS allowed. Last year we allowed 27 all year and we've already gave up 23 this season. Absolutely NO quarterback in NFL history could do well with a ton of new WRs AND one of the worst 5 o-lines in the league.

Haha Archeryaddict12 I think you've 'liked' about 100 of my posts today

Nice to know someone seems to agree with me though

Yeah, this is why they don't worry me in the long run. As long as the Pats win next week they'll still be huge favorites to take the division and get a 3 or 4 seed

he was babying his ring finger on his throwing hand in the second half and talking to McD about it....could be...he was below average today
