he may have been benched for the fumble.

Sounds far fetched. You want your rookies to develop confidence, and get as much experience in the real thing as possible.

Doesn't make sense.

not a big fan of the bench them for fumbling rule. There's more valuable stuff to learn at this point by keeping them in the game than something they already know and can be punished for later (don't fumble durr)

The starting O will have a lot to talk about this week....

Good half by the defense, did well holding the score down with the short fields the Lions have been getting.

Offense, line is just getting dominated which is the biggest problem.

ugly ugly ugly first half by most of the offense, but the silver lining is that the defense is looking really solid tonight.

and here we go, dannydyn knows what makes sense and BB doesn't.

I only have 2 negatives for the 1st half.

1-ball security
2-offensive line has been trash. (Right side especially)

Watching cj 95, he's using his arms a lot more than last year. Gonna be big for his success this year.

Giants, Seattle, San Fran, Detroit, and the NYJ a years back all had/have D lines that own the Pats....Their achilles heal is that they can't go punch for punch with the big boys. And then Brady starts hearing footsteps

So you are telling us that big, talented D lines that give most offensive lines fits, give the Pats' o-line fits too. Good to know.

...with Megatron out though...

Seen enough. D has looked pretty good. Decent penetration, decent contain, pretty good secondary and safety play. Problems with coverage on RBs and TEs but that isn't anything new, and can be schemed.

Oline had the same problem last preseason. They'll get chewed out, and fix some of the problems, but I mean a lot of it is how good the Lions front is (Solder and Volmer are great players, but sometimes too much is too much).

The special teams is the real problem. Just atrocious protection =/

Patriots' offense still looking finesse. Physical teams are still giving them fits.

Defense playing well given the turnovers & field position. Less CJ so not a believer yet. Detroit is punching us in the nose and no response as yet. Still same old concern when we face nasty physical teams. Offensive line cannot deal with ferocity.. Young receivers & Sudeld look awesome!

Still and all, only down by 2 scores despite everything that's gone on, I can deal with that.

It's pre season, and these are the situations that Coach can use as teaching aids.

Let's see the Pats come out 2nd half and hold the Lions to a 3 and out, or maybe even get a pick, and things should start to turn around.

it's the way belichick operates. you remember a few years ago when ridley fumbled in the playoffs? didn't play in the super bowl. i realize that this is a much different situation, but it's the way BB is.

This was a bad team to be going into the game with your third string right guard starting. Svitek was definitely outmatched in the first half. I think he has affected Vollmer too. I think Vollmer is missing stuff outside because he has to watch inside too.

I like what I saw from the defense. I'm not happy with the offensive line. They are getting beaten at the line of scrimmage. I saw the same thing in the playoffs with this group. They do not do well against defensive lines like the lions. They get hit in the mouth and they crumble. Not good, IMO.

Lots of mistakes by everyone on offense. Now let's see how mentally tough they are.

Pats can have a succesful power running game with Blount and Tebow running the ball.

I agree we need to go with Tebow and Blount who had 253 rushing yards combined last year and move away from Ridley who only had a measly 1263 rushing yards own his own in 2012.
