Disappointing isn't a strong enough word to the describe this current Pats team. They're either not ready for the season or we've severely overestimated their capabilities. They look more like a below .500 team every game.
When a team is less than the sum of its parts, it is an indictment of the coaching. This team has looked clueless from day 1. There is still time, but it is very dark before things go completely black.
Agreed but this, IMHO, was not coverage. This was what should have been a veteran understanding the down, distance, and where he was at. Containment is all that was needed. By completely whiffing he allowed the receiver enough room to bull rush for the first down.
Wouldn't be surprised if they sat Jones because of his consistently failing to set the edge. There really has to be something up with the field, probably the Chiefs did a bit of home field cooking, but that's a legitimate strategy that we've engaged in at different times too so fair play to them. Why we weren't ready for that, or anything else they've thrown or more correctly run at us today is just baffling.
