When you are easily makable field goal distance and down by 2, you play it safe. You don't get extra credit in the standings for a TD. It was a 42 yard kick and that kick would have been wide left if the Pats kicked from 20 yards.

Rob, it's Superbowl 47. The Pats offense has sucked all game, but Brady is finally shredding the 49ers, you're telling me you would take a knee with 45 seconds left and leave the fate of the lombardi on a 42 yard kick from Gostowski?

It was horrible management.

No, I think it speaks to the fact Gostkowski is a very good kicker.

This is likely our 'loss to an underdog' (see Buffalo '11).

And after that I will be staying off the forum for a few days while some complain about this team 'being awful' and the world ending!

I saw 10 posts before posting this and 8/10 were examples of this!

I am surprisingly calm about this, probably because I have had to watch Liverpool this season!

Because the Offense was mediocre for the other 50 minutes of the game. They were lucky to even be in a position to possibly win the game after the way they played.

The offense was mediocre, but the defense played well and forced the fumble. There's more than one phase of the game in football.

Definitely not the right thing. 42 yards is never a gimme, and when you have a CLEAR shot to get a TD, or at the VERY WORST get a few yards closer and make the kick <30 yards you take it. No excuse settling for a 42 yarder in that situation.

It was not the fault of any one person. Horrible decision by BB, horrible kick by Ghost, ticky tack call on Gronk, and everything that led up to it.

If the Pats won by 1 point or 5 points, how is that any different. You don't go for a TD. If you get a TD like that Woodhead run should have been, then so be it. But you risk turning over the ball going for more than anything more than extra yards.

I think the Pats could have picked up a few more yards by running it another time or two, but it was academic because Gostkowski would have missed the field goal from 32 yards or 22 yards.

Ghost choked, but the loss can't be blamed on him. The Pats didn't deserve to win.

McDaniels called a horrible game. How many times do the middle runs need to be stuffed before you change the game plan? Why did it take to the 2nd half before Welker became involved and you opened up the O? Are the Pats paying Gronk that huge salary to stay in and block the whole 1st half or to run the seems and score like he did in the 2nd half. Brady certainly didn't look his best until the 4th qtr. The O has a lot to work on.

Worst play calling of mcd career here....no question.....if he is thinking of hanging in there until BB retires.....didn't do himself any favors today.....no Welker....little gronk...NO RB passes out of backfield in second half....Horrible play calling.....hey josh....can we try that draw to the RB again next play? Fcking hideous

No one likes a loss but the bashing is a little ridiculus. The Cardinals played very well and the Pats never quit.

The holding call on Gronk was highly suspect where as the holding calls 'on' Gronk all day seemed much more obvious to me (I know Im baised). Even the offsides call was very cheap.

No offense but vinny makes that sheeyat.... there is a reason why BB didn't let ghost make the kick in SB in 07......guy is good pk with NO pressure.... but can't bring it when his balls are on the coals...need a kicker that can make that sh-t when it counts.......unreal
