This is a good team with with enough talent to contend once again for the playoffs and beyond...this coaching is atrocious.Who decides that McCourty is the skill player you want returning kickoffs??? Is this a fair criticism? You put MORE pressure on a player with tons of pressure already on him??? AND HE FAILS CATASTROPHICALLY?? I mean, we're staring at Vereen on the sideline and going "WTF!!!!!!!!!".

to be fair...pats dont win the game without mccourty returning kickoffs.

Aside from a few bumps in the road (early timeout for no reason?) the coaching staff was fine. At one point in the game there was a 50/50 run to pass ratio. The execution sucked balls, particularly on defense.
That TO was due to 10 men on the field. D did the same thing on the JETS first TD only they failed to call for a TO...

This team doesn't have what it takes to make and win the SB this year..playoffs yes..SB..no. Unless something changes on D and O..they they won't be representing the AFC

BB has no confidence in D to have them blitz..i kinda almost wish we have Billy O back as well on O

How many times did we say that last year? I dont care how they win at this time of the year, as long as they start to play better towards the end of the year, this team sure has some work to do but so did last years team at this point in the season.

Oh come on everyone was *****ing about that, and for good reason (seriously, how much of a homer can people be?)-- Nantz was hardly the only one.

I get that people like Collinsworth really hate on the Pats, but the idea Nantz or Simms do is utterly ridiculous- they always talk glowingly of Belichick, Simms especially, considering his long history with BB. Let's get real here.

That said I hate Nantz because he's a crappy, insincere broadcaster with a boring voice. Makes the Masters nigh-unwatchable. Glad he's going senile.

For good reason? Wha?

The play was called properly. Do you know the rule?

In fact, were it not for the tuck rule, the Patriots and Raiders don't even play that game.

Joe "SUPER HOMER!" Kerr here...just got back...read back a few pages here....look,it's a win....what does that mean?...what do the Pats look like live and in person?? They look downright scary when SOMEBODY wakes up from their coma and calls a blitz...otherwiae, this team is playing NOT to lose...nothing more pointed than the 11 minute mark of the 4th quarter when EVERYBODY in the stand KNEW the game was not even close to being in hand.

I don't know what it is that is going on with this coaching staff. McDaniels oversees a blistering surgical drive to go up 23=13 and the next drive he calls a friggin REVERSE???????????????? ON FIRST DOWN????????????WITH TEN MINUTES LEFT????

If THIS is what it's going to be like...if Mcdaniels is trying to outgenius the genius, who obviously is trying to outgenius the whole world by playing limp noodle cover two shell defense with NO pressure, then this team is obviously not ready to contend for the playoffs. They had FOUR sacks today...I think they blitzed LESS than that...that's how it seemed. It is PROVEN FACT, THIS SEASON...you blitz sanchez ,he folds ...early...just LOOK BACK at the SF game...but not us...no, we have to play like Sensitive Sally and keep it all "in front of us" as this jumpin' punkchez sits in a pocket like he's taking a long dump and reading the NY Times.

and I admit, I'm an unabashed BB homer...I will always respect and appreciate what he's done here...but enough is enough. I may be an old dog but I want, as a FAN, to see my team go down fighting hard...not quietly mumbling about correcting a scheme that doesn't pass the eye test or any other test ever used in the NFL. Do you realize the Mark freakin' Sanchez, possibly the worst starting QB in the NFL, outpassed Brady today. He threw for 88 yards LAST WEEK!!!

A win is a win...take it and run...but there HAS to be a quantum leap in improvement on both sides of the ball for this team to rightfully be considered a contender.

You're one of the better fans.

Take a deep breathe.

Belichick builds these guys up.

he does it his way.

I want everyone to go back over the last 12 years.

Patriots always start out slow, they always start out vanilla.

And then they come on like gangbusters.

There's a reason this team has been in the Super Bowl 5 out of the 10 years Brady has played (and it should have been 6!! in 2006).

also see: Dolphins v Rams this year. exact same type of incident, fumbled overturned due to tuck rule. its a consistent call.

you can debate whether it is right or not (since the wording is a bit vague)...but if its consistently ruled a certain way...thats probably how its supposed to be called.

The team's not good right now. It's losing to teams it has no business losing to, and it almost lost to a Jets team that's been horrible for a good part of the season.

Did Brady score any TDs? Or driving your team to FG range is considered clutch? It was when we had good defense, but watch Rogers, Eli, even Marty Ice, they score TDs.
Brady is what he is a good QB who rode on the backs on some good defense. The sooner you realize that the better you will be. I love the guy, but with a bad defense, he craps in this pants.

Lol no. Rodgers and Eli score touchdowns because the pass interference calls that we don't get, they always get (if Cromartie was called for the pass interference on the second to last play in regulation, you don't think the Patriots score a TD there?) and Rodgers and Eli's receivers make great catches whereas the Patriots receivers drop a lot of passes. Matt Ryan is clutch for what? Wasn't his clutch moment getting his team in FG range a couple of weeks ago. With a bad defense he craps his pants? If by crapping his pants you means he carries them all the way to the Superbowl and plays well enough to win it or when he wins a unanimous MVP with a bad defense in a rebuilding year, then sure, he craps his pants with bad defense.

People who have the audacity to call out Brady. How many perfectly thrown dropped passes did his receivers have today? It also doesn't help that McDaniel's calls the worst play calls. Without Tom Brady the Patriots are 0-7. You don't have to kiss the floor he walks on, but the slander he is starting to get by his own fan base is ridiculous.

Greg Bedard with his initial thoughts on the game:

5 takeaways from Patriots-Jets - Extra Points - Boston.com

- Mark Sanchez had a good game
- Jermaine Cunningham is becoming an every-down player
- The return of Julian Edelman means nothing
- The Patriots run defense continues to be impressive

the jets are the 30th ranked pass offense

imagine what a top 10 qb would do....

the jets looked really good against the texans. the texans just blew out the ravens. the ravens beat us by a FG. any given sunday. the jets have bad stats but they still have the ability to beat teams and look good at times.

Yea it was ugly, and if they play like this every week they very well could miss the playoffs.

Still, it was a hard-fought win against a divisional opponent, their biggest rival, and BB's worst coaching nemesis. I don't give a crap how bad people think Sanchez is, or that losing Revis was a devasting blow, etc.--raise your hand if you thought this was going to be an easy win. I was laughed my ass off when I saw that Vegas was giving the Jets 10 1/2 points. easy money.

i know everyone wants a blow out like 45-3...but division games are no walk in the park....even though i thought this one would be

Yes, a win's a win, but Brady has to get his head out of his lap and rally the troops. Moping on the bench is not setting a good example. It seems theres a big lack of confidence on this team

He wasn't moping on the bench. Patriots beat writers tweeted about him giving pep talks to the team. The times that they showed Brady on the bench on tv he was talking through things with Welker.

i know everyone wants a blow out like 45-3...but division games are no walk in the park....even though i thought this one would be

The Patriots have beaten the Jets

37-16
30-21
45-3

in the last 3 regular season meetings between the teams, and those were better Jets squads. This should have been a blowout.

Then again, the Patriots should be 6-1 or 7-0 right now, but they're playing bad enough football that they're 4-3.

Brady willed this team to a win today. In fact, at times he shredded the Jets like tissue paper...but Brandon Lloyd dropped six of seven targets...that is NOT winning football. Calling trick plays after you've just surgically torn the opponent apart, go three and out and give the ball back with 11 minutes left is NOT winning football. Going coast to coast in the 1st quarter only to throw the ball and possibly the game on the ground in the 4th quarter is NOT winning football. Knowing the crowd is raging in your favor after a huge score at the end of the third quarter, you decide to go into your cover 2 shell the entire 4th quarter playing passive "keep it in front of you" defense, rushing just 4 even though the whole building KNOWS it's a pass and the whole building is waiting to scream their lungs and hearts out when Sanchez gets blitzed and sacked, only to watch this , this squirmy little bug of a QB sit back there untouched, unrushed, waiting for his receivers to run double move routes...that is not winning football.

Funny...that secondary sure covered well enough when the Pats BLITZED the edge in overtime ,huh????...musta been a coinky-dinky...just one of those things, eh? I mean, what PAYING FAN wants to see plays like THAT when they can just sit there like friggin' old maids at a freakin' sewing bee, sipping tea and eating crumpets, and making sure to catch the crumbs like good NFL fans should....bullcrap....SMASH SMASH SMASH...you tear them apart, you NEVER call a freakin reverse to start the NEXT series. You blitz in the first half and get a safety because you run blitz and gang tackle, you blitz again ...and again and again until they STOP IT!! They never stopped it every time we did blitz!!

yeah, I'm still heated....and another thing....instead of bashing the secondary non stop, understand that when the QB is at 3 or 4 seconds in the pocket, the WR's ARE covered...without pressure they tend to ALL get open...it's the NFL, man...these guys get paid on the other teams too.Keller's TD was exactly that...Sanchez just stood there and stood there at the seven yard line until Keller got open by a foot...I was dying watching this..."somebody rush this punk!!!!!!!".....yeah, we'll see if this IS a stepping stone game or just a "more of the same lame" going forward.

Give me a break. If cromartie had caught what was handed to him it would be a different story entirely.

If Brady's receivers caught what were handed to them the Patriots win by 10+ and that almost interception would've been irrelevant. Give ME a break.

Let's not go overboard with Praise for Brady. He made several key mistakes. Cromartie holds on to the the int Brady put right in his hands and Jets win.

What key mistakes did he make instead of that almost interception? Are you including perfect throws to receivers hands and the receivers dropping them as key mistakes for Brady?

The pats are not a good team right now. They are kind of disorganized which is unusual and on defense they severely lack talent in the secondary and consistent pass rush to help the secondary. They shouldve lost to the jets if not not brady in the end and jets WR's dropping balls. The # of times jets catchers were wide open was really scary.
Having said that , a win is a win . Its illogical to say they wont beat anyone in the playoffs or the giants or the texans right now . Maybe they wont maybe they will, but 4-3 is not something i thought they will be after the mccourty fumble and I will take it.

One last thing I can say , this is not a physical football team sadly. The teams of the 2003/2004 would take great pride when they played physical teams like the steelers to show how physical they themselves can be but this team is not such .

Conveniently skipped is the failure again to produce some critical first downs in crunch time.......but it is becoming apparent to me that while Brady may be in decline, he can still lead a team to an SB ....... If the coaches smarten up

Failed to produce first downs in crunch time??? Didn't he convert 3 or 4 of them on the final FG drive in regulation or something? Someone pull up his stats on his last 2 drives please.
