From NFL.com on Ingram

Overview

A former defensive end switched to long snapper during the 2005 season, head coach June Jones believed Ingram was too valuable to be a reserve on defense. NFL scouts are likely to agree with Jones' assessment of Ingram as a long-snapper. Ingram is clearly the top prospect in the country at the vital, if underappreciated, position. He's not a big bruiser who could play center in a pinch but his accuracy and velocity will be valued by teams looking for a reliable snapper. Had an arm span of 31 3/4 inches and a hand span of 9 inches at the combine.

Analysis

Positives: Excellent velocity on punt snaps -- ball consistently reaches punter in less than 0.7 seconds, can be as quick as 0.65 seconds. ... No wasted motion in snap. ... Very good accuracy. Punter rarely has to work to secure the snap. ... Works hard to maintain his lane on punt coverage.

Negatives: Not especially quick getting downfield on punts and didn't make many coverage tackles. ... Lacks great size, although there are snappers his size in the NFL. ... Inconsistent accuracy on placement snaps. Puts them high or toward holder's right shoulder at times, making it difficult to get the ball back to the spot.

The last two picks have been very underwhelming.

Wheeee, We all predicted we'd take a long snapper. Bill didn't fool us on that one.

#1 on draftcountdown
Jake Ingram Height: 6-27/8 | Weight: 232 | 40-Time: 5.02

Strengths:
Decent athleticism...Extremely accurate...Outstanding balance...Is not fazed by pressure...Intense and active...Consistent...Gets a lot of zip on his snaps...Has a strong work ethic...Still improving...Team leader.

Weaknesses:
Average size and bulk...Needs to get stronger...Not real fast and won't help out much in coverage down the field...Isn't a great tackler...Not stout at the point...All he does is snap and won't offer value elsewhere.

Notes:
Nickname is "The Snake"...Was a three-year starter...Younger brother Luke is also a long-snapper for the Warriors...Began his career as a walk-on but eventually earned a scholarship...Served as the snapper for extra points, field goals and punts...Academic All-WAC in 2006...His other position is / was defensive end...Was initially leery about becoming a full-time long-snapper but has now embraced the position and really strives to hone his skills...Has a legitimate shot to be drafted and could end up playing in the league for a very long time.

So if we are already picking long (John) snappers with our 6th rounder - what will Pats be picking with the 6th comp and 7th rounders?

My 'mock' 6th / 7th round draft:

6th comp : Roddy Dumkopf - Gaitoraid mixer (high character - team player; minored in German at college so can interpret for Sebastian V.)

7th: Ben Wizenkatz : defense legal team (game day inactive)

7th: Misty Beethoven: ball washer (strong locker room presence and moral booster)

We are three picks away from an amazing, stupendous pick! I feel the vibe!! This guy will help us win multiple Super Bowls, whomever it is.

Ten-twelve years from now we'll be honoring him on his day at Gillette and retiring his number! Can you feel it?

We are five minutes or so away!

Sounds like camp competition fodder rather than the favorite for the job.

I think we need to go with Devin Moore or Jennings right here after all the OL

I sen this on another Board

new england just drafted a long snapper. haha, knowing the pats, he'll be the best long snapper in the history of football.

A QB.....maybe Lorenzen UConn

I wouldn't be surprised to see us take a LB here or a QB.

I'd really like to see Boltus.

From Twitter:

With the 34th selection in the sixth round, 207th overall, the Patriots select DL Myron Pryor of Kentucky.

That should keep a few people happy, he was a bit of a favourite in the Draft forum.
