The MVP race

WR Jaxon Smith Njigba deserves some MVP love.
This beast is lapping the field in reception yards (1,042 in 9 games) and 210 yds ahead of #2 Ja'Marr Chase.
JSN accounts for 46% of Darnold's passing yds

Hard to believe Stafford is a 17 year vet.
He's so Great and wasted most of his career in Detroit with horrible Coaching year after year. I remember QB's talking about their peers and who they admire as a player and Stafford name came up a lot: he's a Great QB. Happy he won that SB he's very likable.

I wonder what the butterfly effect would be if Stafford was open to coming to the Patriots...

Right now Stafford is on pace for nearly 50 TDs and 4 Ints. Hard to ignore that no matter how good his situation is. So you have to put him #1. I don't think it will last long. This is going to eventually come down to earth. And the thing to remember is TDs can be misleading. At this pace you would assume they have the best O in the league right? Nope. 5th best in PPG. They have only run in 7 TDs while having an incredibly effective running game in YPA. This imbalance of scoring makes him look a little better than he is. But the 2 Ints is key. His other stats are only good. 7.8YPA and 67% are both good marks, but they don't scream MVP to me.

Maye is currently 2nd. Which is kind of interesting to me. Maye it seems has been 2nd place on and off for well over a month with a new top dog after the favorite lays an egg. Mayfield was in the lead then had some subpar games and he loses the spot. Allen bear Mahomes and now Allen is the top dog. Allen loses to Miami, now Stafford is the top dog. All the while Maye just keeps holding on to 2nd place as everyone slowly gives reasons why it shouldn't be them.

At some point everyone else is going to have enough bad games and eventually i get the feeling you won't be able to justify putting anyone over him. As long as Maye and the Pats keep doing their thing i think he kind of just chips away until everyone else bows out this year. I've had that feeling for a few weeks now.

Great minds think alike Borgie: I was just looking at his unreal stats...I mean Sam Darnold went from Justin Jefferson to Jaxon Smith Njigba who have over 1000yds already with Seven game left. He's a Great WR on the level on Chase and Jefferson.

His last win, against the 49ers, got him to .500 for his career.
That's how bad the Lions were. He's already won a Super Bowl.

I don't see Stafford tailing off anytime soon: they have a serious Offense with one of the better minds. Puka and Adams plus an plethora of TE's no fair no Team should have that many. I hope we can snatch one of their TE's in the Offseason.

50 TD/4 INT is sick. Very hard not to make him MVP if he keeps that pace.

I wonder how much Maye's schedule would hurt him in the eyes of MVP voters.

I doubt it would matter much at all. MVP is almost always a numbers award, unless it's someone else's """turn""" (Josh Allen, last year, even though Saquon Barkley and Lamar Jackson had better numbers).

Stafford would be a sentimental pick, and unless he falls off a cliff, I think it's his to lose now.

I think the Rams are the only Team that can play with Philly in the NFC Playoffs. Last year's game between them in the Playoffs was very close. Philly have the tush push; the Rams have the TE Jumbo formation.

Well I don't mean the wheels will fully come off... but they will run in more TDs at the goal line instead of pass. Stafford will have a few ints. He'll have some bad games. I think he ends the year 40 TDs 7 Ints or something like that. Still really good. But considering he doesn't run well at all and Maye has done what he's done with a lot less, he can beat that.

If Stafford ends something like 41 TDs 7 Ints 66% 7.8YPA and 4500 yards or something.
Maye ends 33 TDs 8 Ints 500 rushing yards 4 rushing 71% 8.8YPA an 4400 yards. I think you give it to Maye.

You need to consider he has worse everything... WRs, OL, RB and Defense. Plus a new system to learn. And if they get first seed in the AFC i don't see how it isn't him if they are about this close... Even if LAR also get the first seed.

Now if Stafford get 45 TDs and a similar stat line than the above, that is probably too much, but i don't think that happens.

Maybe it's just me but I would take a Deep Playoffs run over the MVP.
Huh?
What football fan would take a regular season MVP for their QB over a deep playoff run?
I think we know the answer, 0!!!!!!
If anyone would, well they aren’t really fans of a team.

You'd be surprised. I remember Colts fans back in the day caring WAY more about Peyton Manning's MVPs than actually winning Super Bowls.

The thing is he's not throwing picks the Rams have literally everything you need on Offense. They have a SB Bowl Team: Drake Maye is going have to cut down on those unfortunate picks just to keep up. One of the reason why Baker Mayfield is in the conversation is that he doesn't throw picks. Sam Darnold like Maye have thrown more than a few.

You didn't watch Brady much did you?? How many Times did AR and others Peyton Manning win the MVP but Brady was raising the Lombardi. Give me the Lombardi over that 24/7: I would rather my Team play in the last game of the year everytime.

What do you think is every Teams hope going into the season Winning a MVP?? That accomplishment can only go to one player. The Lombardi on the other hand goes to the TEAM!
