It's funny because I took the opposite approach. Perhaps because I was an optimistic 16 year old but I felt we had a real contender that just laid an egg, and couldn't wait until the 2nd game. As the year progressed and they got better and better I felt great about the rematch. 31-0 later and the poetic justice was perfect.I remember it pretty well and the WTF part wasn't so much what an absolute curb stomping it was. Not to mention we thought we finally had THE QB and Belichick had swindled the Bills out of a 1st rounder for our discarded used up previous QB only to have Bledsoe lead his team to a 31-0 thorough de-panting of the Pats. It was such a thorough beat down it felt like the bottom had suddenly dropped out and we were headed back to the fringes of relevancy. Yes the dynasty not having been born yet seems like an ameliorating factor until you consider the counter point to that was we had no reason to believe at that time that our team was possessed of an almost magical Phoenix like ability to rise from the ashes that we have now come to (preposterously) take for granted.
We really are spoiled AF...lol

It was also the game where Lawyer Milloy made his Buffalo debut. But think about it. That was the game where Jackson made his , "they HATE their coach" comment that will live in the Pats HOF of stupid media quotes of all time, which provides us with SOOOOO much pleasure for so many years. Its like the gift that keeps on giving.I remember it pretty well and the WTF part wasn't so much what an absolute curb stomping it was as whhat went unmentioned. BTW- what was your favorite "stupid media take" on the Pats?
That was another weird game. It was the Super Bowl in reverse. Pats uncharacteristically freaked out at the goal line. Game plan against Wilson was awful.November 13, 2016 home loss to Seattle 31-24. Pats turned the ball over on downs (I believe inside the Seattle 5 yard line) with seconds to go. Sunday night game. It wasn't necessarily "baffling" to lose to Seattle, but it pissed me off.
2003 opener at Buffalo. Did not expect that.
2004 MNF at Miami. Blew an 11 point lead with under 5 minutes to play.
2005 both games against the Broncos. Their team was full of rejects and ran a garbage scheme on D that confused the heck out of Brady, only to get blown out the following against the Steelers. No team annoyed me more than the 2005 Broncos.
2010 Divisional game against the Jets. No excuse for that and no explanation needed. This team comes in a close second of annoying.
2012 Cardinals. That was a weird game.
2012 AFCCG against the Ravens. Even with the loss of Grimm, their slow *** LB’s and pedestrian secondary shouldn’t have been a match for Hernandez, Welker, etc.
2015 last two loses of the regular season. According to Mike Lombardi, they intentionally ran the ball a ton to avoid any more injuries. They should’ve been more aggressive in NY, get the win and then rest everyone the following week. These were the most baffling loses.

I’m sure every board has an S&M thread, though probably a little different. This is a great thread, made almost whimsical because of SIX Lombardi trophies in the last 20 seasons! Imagine how big this thread would be on the 31 other teams' boards!
Go Pats!
You just named it...
Because unlike Kellerman, Parker or Sharpe you can bet Tom Jackson believed his own BS when he said it
You know I had done such a great job of completely eliminating that Jet playoff game from my collective memory, and now you've brought it back to me.
I find the pain of the Pats being part of the ONE significant Jet victory in the last 50 yrs is still excruciating.....now that YOU brought it back to me. You are a mean dude SBL!!! ; )
Sounds like the whole team felt that way.I was at that game. Woke up with a sore throat that morning, felt like crap already and then watched that unravel right before my eyes.
That game really didn’t bother me because you knew exactly how the team felt after cutting Milloy. And you knew they would only allow themselves one week of a pity party.I remember it pretty well and the WTF part wasn't so much what an absolute curb stomping it was as whhat went unmentioned. That was actually a helpful loss I think. The week before, Brady had completed a pass sitting down...if I recall, he had a bad pick in this game. Not a bad reminder to clean it up.The 12-1 Pats losing to the 2-11 Dolphins in 2004 tops my list, but obviously everything worked out in the end. Still, it would have been funny seeing the Pats go 15-1 and be only a #2 seed.
Regards,
Chris
The day the lowly Browns beat us with Colt McCoy and Peyton Hillis.
I almost forget this game even happened. This game was straight out of the twilight zone.
