The last time the Jets played in a Super Bowl, I was one of only four members from patsfans.com (who were then in elementary school) that saw the game on our black and white TV's via rabbit ears; rooftop antennas were an invention that was still several years in the future. The other 1,237 forum participants - and many of their parents - had not yet to be conceived at that point in time.

I was alive, but not yet watching football.

According to my dad, my parents were at a wedding during the game (In NYC) and half the guys had the new fangled transistor radios with the single ear bud so they could listen to the game.

The last time the Jets played in the Super Bowl, this was must see TV from the three available channels on the television set, which you had to walk across the room in order to change the channel and wiggle a couple of pieces of metal in order to see the picture:

Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In
Gomer Pyle, USMC
Bonanza
Mayberry RFD
Family Affair
Gunsmoke
Julia
The Dean Martin Show
Here's Lucy
The Beverly Hillbillies

Great thread. I was in high school in Baltimore. Of course we all watched the game. The city just about died that day, and it was still recovering from the ML King riots in the spring of 68.

It trully was a shock, what the Jets had accomplished. The Colts only lost 2 games in the 67 and 68 seasons. In 67, they only lost one game and it was the last game of the season. BTW, they didn't even get to go to the playoffs. The Packers with 4 losses eventually won SB2. So in 68, when the Colts again only lost 1 game and rolled through the playoffs, they were expected to win.....

Some other things about the times.
Cigarettes were advertised on TV and sponsored many "family" TV shows.
Cars just started getting seat belts, but no one used them, as they wrinkled our clothes.
Gas was $.25 per gallon and most cars had V8s with 8-10 MPG.
Kubrick's 2001 was released.

Woodstock was just a rural town,

Richard Harris sang "McArthurs Park" and the Soundtrack to "Hair" was sweeping the country
Bobby Orr hadnt won a Stanley Cup yet
Tony Conigliero was attempting his first comeback
Greg Cook of the Cincinnati Bengals was the top rookie QB phenom
Wednesday was Prince Spaghetti Day

...the Celtics have won 6 titles, the Bruins won 2 Stanley Cups, the Patriots won 3 Super Bowls, and the Red Sox won 2 World Series.:D

Billy Joel was a teenager
Barbra Streisand was in her 20's

This is bad karma for a team you should be rooting for this week.
