To use a term a friend of mine once used in a different context, the #1 pick is a poisoned chalice: it's great to have, but the trip to it is rarely enjoyable.If the Pats hadn’t blundered and lost #1 overall, I think most posters here were looking at what they could get in a trade as opposed to actually picking someone #1 overall.
That's why I've said, and will continue to point out, that we should not be mad at Mayo for winning that last game. We should be angry for the nonsense over the previous 16 games that put them in the position to have the #1 pick in the first place.
