This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

If the Pats hadn’t blundered and lost #1 overall, I think most posters here were looking at what they could get in a trade as opposed to actually picking someone #1 overall.
To use a term a friend of mine once used in a different context, the #1 pick is a poisoned chalice: it's great to have, but the trip to it is rarely enjoyable.

That's why I've said, and will continue to point out, that we should not be mad at Mayo for winning that last game. We should be angry for the nonsense over the previous 16 games that put them in the position to have the #1 pick in the first place.

I'm mad that we suffered the 16 prior games, and for bs reasons we didn't come out of it with the #1 to show for that suffering.

Not only that, did anyone here enjoy the last win, knowing what was at stake?

The only positive to come out of that game was that Milton got to show his development, and increased his future value to the Pats, or as a trade chip.

It still pains me to think about 24.

The patriots had talent on the field or bench.

Not so much on the sidelines.

I waited for milton to play all year...

I dont think Kraft thought he would be that good...

I think Mayo was delighted to use him as he knew he would win.

A parting gift.

I'm skeptical teams actually put that much stock into one game. They all saw him in college and thought little enough of him for him to last all the way until the 6th round where we got him. I doubt one game all of a sudden flipped their whole evaluations of him.

That being said, even if that is the case, I don't think I'd trade him for anything reasonable, even better than reasonable. Maye ran a lot last year and had some injuries pop up here and there. It's not crazy to think he could miss time. If Milton ever stepped in for an extended period of time and played well, his value sky rockets. A 3rd or even a 2nd rounder would be nice to add now, but it's not something that I'll rue the day we passed on if Milton ends up never being worth anything close to that. But giving up a starting QB for what ends up being a relatively minor return is in fact something I'd look back on and regret.

Great Backup to Maye. Position closed for years. Take his name out of your mouth please.

Can we get this unpinned. Isn't it weird that we don't have a pin for a Drake Maye thread, but one for the backup QB?

Let's see if we are stupid enough to trade him first.

Drake maye isnt pinned because he's starting and his job is secure.

Speaking of pinned...I seem to miss a lot of PatsFans articles that @Ian writes. When I do manage to happen to see them somewhere on the site...I enjoy them...they are informative. Often times I think "holy **** i didn't know that". Can we get them pinned? We just need one. When a new article comes out it replaces the previous.

Edit: an ask like this is a sure fire way to never get them pinned

I appreciate you saying that. I'm in the process of working on the new forum layout with the new software version, so I'll look into doing something like that.

I did put them on the bar at the bottom, primarily to get them off the main part of the board since I didn't want them to drown out the other threads, especially on mobile. But I'll see if I can come up with something that makes people who do want to read them have better access to them.

It was one of the weekly film breakdowns by @KCSVEN, who did break down the games Maye played in as well. The last one obviously just happened to be the one Milton started, and I had forgotten to bump it down a week or two after the season ended.

A special thanks, BTW to @KCSVEN for these. Really thought they were fantastic all season long.

when the league goes to 18 games, and it will, having 2 good qb's could be invaluable. do not trade bazooka joe now. let's see if he can improve his game and really increase his trade value first. i know there is a flip side to this but i think it's worth the risk.

Oh I know, and they are really good breakdowns, but just was curious when it would be unpinned. Odd one of the first things you see is a post about him and not Maye. Not that a Maye thread should be pinned either lol.
