The Jets suck (merged)

Rivalry based threads. Obviously news threads and game threads will get the most posts, but the Jets are talked about, by far, more than any other team.

Nope...Colts have more. Both news and rivalry based.

The Colts have the Brady/Manning discussion: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...g-more-skilled-than-brady-please-explain.html

One about their injuries(borderline gloating/making fun): http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...rs-hayden-jackson-gonzalez-hagler-merged.html

One like this one...http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/290827-bring-indy.html

One about their President and their former coach...http://www.patsfans.com/new-england.../65038-polian-dungy-whining-league-again.html

Another Brady/Manning discussion...http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/319006-bob-cryin-manning-better-qb.html

And one about the crowd noise in Indy: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...66166-artificial-crowd-noise-indy-merged.html

The Jets only have this thread.

Here's one centered around the Dolphins that lasted a great while so it isn't the Jets that are getting lampooned... http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/282254-go-dolphins.html

Of course. Again, the Jets are a division competition and are being picked by some to win the division this year. It's really a "no ****" situation that we're talking about the Jets.

In the short time I've been here, I've seen much more about the Jets than Colts, so that's all I'm going on. Jets are more relevant anyway as they pose the more direct threat being in the division.

Yup.

How am I lacking reading comprehension? In your post, you stated your "take on Sanchez" to which I responded with evidence that suggested the contrary.

One or two passes don't suggest anything to to contrary of a generalized point. Had I said "He simply cannot complete any passes downfield outside the numbers", you'd have had a point. Since that was not my statement, your exceptions demonstrate an inability to comprehend.

Your response about Simms shows an inability to comprehend my point.

I could go on, but you've demonstrated that you're really not worth it, even on a thread that was just for a little bit of fun.

Ryan and the Jets have been making news, while the Colts have generally had a quiet offseason. If the fivehead comes out with a stupid comment, or we find out that Freeney's working on baby-momma #10, we'll focus on the Colts.

Poor decision maker who got away with a lot of mistakes last season because of the teams he was playing against. The Houston game is a perfect example. The Texans should have destroyed the Jets because Sanchez was gifting passes to them, but a Houston team that has a tendency to take the gaspipe did exactly that.

I'm only going to argue this point because Rex Ryan's Gut argued the rest.

Yes, he was gifting passes in that game. He was a poor decision maker but those poor decisions came in bunches just like his interceptions came in bunches. 5 vs Buffalo (1st game), 3 vs Atlanta, 4 vs New England (2nd game), 3 vs the Saints, 2 vs Jacksonville. Those were 5 of the 7 losses...the other two were to Miami.

5+3+4+3+2=17! 17 of his 20 INT's came in 5 games! (Yikes)

So yes while Sanchez was indeed gifting passes, it was not an 'all-season-long-every-game' thing. The problem is he would play well then regress...3 good games then a REAL stinker.

He also had games where the balls he threw were missing receivers, and missing badly too. They weren't always WIDE open, but they were open enough that he should have gotten the football in there.

This is what I see as an everyday Jets fan. I see the nuances of Sanchez's game that the Pats fans who don't watch all Jets games don't see.

Some pats fans might say Sanchez's play in the playoffs were nothing to get excited about. But they don't see the throws in tight coverage; the preciseness of the passes; the defense-freezing pump fakes, the check downs he makes, the mental clock in his head when he has to give up the football. All of that stuff wasn't there before. That's why I get excited: because of how quickly over the season he has ingrained them into his skill set.

Cynic's might say, "Any NFL caliber QB should already have those skills." And they would be right. But not every rookie comes in with all those skills (certainly Sanchez didn't).

Case in point: In the Saints game (game 3), Sanchez was stripped of the football in his own end zone and the Saints scored a touchdown. He never had a mental clock for when he should get rid of the football. USC probably never let anyone get that close to him (I only assume so, I never watch any college games).

However in the AFC Champ Game: (game 19), he was able to get the ball out of his hands to Dustin Keller for a TD before getting drilled.

I happen to also believe that, on an unconscious level, all Patriot fans compare every! single! QB! to Tom Brady. Since Mark Sanchez didn't play as good as Tom Brady (usually does) he was 'meh'.

1.) He was a lousy decision maker. It wasn't just in bunches. It's part of why his coach pulled in the reins on the kid.

2.) I watched quite a few Jets games this past season, actually. Without looking for verification, I'd expect that I watched about 3/4 of them, so the "nuances" thing just doesn't hold up.

3.) Rex Ryan's Gut made terrible arguments. It was if I was typing "Muggsy Bogues is undersized and struggles to rebound against NBA players", and RRG was showing a time when Bogues got a rebound. That still doesn't change the fact that Mogues was pulling only about 2.6 rpg.

4.) I wasn't comparing Sanchez to Brady, at all. Why would I? Sanchez' nearest competition was probably J. Russell, and he was nowhere near Brady in class.

5.) The playoff games were televised. Your claim that Patriots fans somehow didn't see the greatness you saw makes no sense in light of that.

I'm not going to get into this further with you, because the only reason I put out the observations in the first place was in response to your request.

I said I get to see the nuances that pats fans who don't watch all the games wouldn't see. I didn't single you out at all.

Watching regular season games and then the playoff games, you clearly see the improvement.

But if you don't want to go further then we won't.

Have a pleasant evening. I just got bored watching Orlando KILL the Hawks. Lakers are on now maybe I'll get a good game.

Final thought: Tampa Bay Rays are overrated.

I wouldn't mind going further into it in a different thread, but I really did just come into this thread for some playful ribbing.

We are getting off track..I will start it back up.

The jets suck because their coach cries, and counts his team out before they are actually out of the playoff race.

The jets lose atleast one game they "should have won" every single year. (miami, oakland).

Their qb is in the same leage as russel, and grossman, yet everyon pretends like he's not.

Grossman did go to a superbowl.

How sad is it to base that on one or two games? Dude, had a HORRIBLE season, yet because of a few games he is awsome? I dont think so. You have to look at is as a whole, he had what? 22 INTS? Which would have been a lot more if defenders didnt drop sure picks. In fact, I remember his very first game, huston had 3 pick thrown right to them that were just straight up dropped...sanchez isnt a good qb, maybe he can "manage" your team at times, but he will most likely be just an average player at best in the nfl.

Toward the end of the regular season, that jets offense was one of the worst, most boring I have ever saw before.

Not saying he's awesome. I'm saying that he went from the horrible (regular) season you described to a great playoff season. We all can see the progress. So, why is it unreasonable for me to expect him to play well next year when he played well in the playoffs?

Don't forget that there would have been no playoff game if the Colts had not taken a dive. The Jets were 7-7 on their way to 7-8 and out of the playoffs. But Polian had to chicken out and blew a place in history. I was so glad when the Saints beat them.

They played one good game against the Chargers and a decent half against the Colts. But I never doubted for a second that the Colts would win that game.

The AFCE will be very competitive this year and a tough division. But the Patriots still should be the favorites.

Yea...but were they in the playoffs against the best his conference had to offer that season?

Ummmm kind of. When you look at his last two games played INDY and SD his numbers are extremely pedestrian. In the SD game he was atrocious, he literally vomited all over himself and Nate Kaeding let him off the hook. Best part is you clowns won that game because your new "stud" was too big of a skirt to tackle Green.

12 of 23 for 100 yards 1 td 1 int 1 sack 4.3 yds per att. try to spin that.

Or maybe we should remember his last 3 games coming down the stretch you know when the Bengals and Colts literally quit trying, 28 of 67 for 395 yds aka 42% 5.8 yds per att. 1 TDs 3 INTs QB ratings of 49.7, 78.0 and 60.2 respectively. Shoot, I would be optimistic too.

Just to boost your confidence a bit more you might want to look at how the loser of the conference title game has faired the next season over the last 10 years.
