The Importance To Belichick of QB2

Hey SB - Good to see you over here. There is no doubt that Mallett is going to serve as the #2. I want to see progress from him during the pre-season and in training camp before anointing him as a long-term solution. Tebow is going to be lucky to make this roster and 99% of us, not named American_Ch(u)mpion, now that.

Ladies and Gentlemen - American Champion is a troll from the ESPN message boards and should be handled accordingly. Just so you know....

Hey you too Bru. Yup, I've already given this board a heads up or two about this clown. Thankfully, unlike over there, I have no doubt it will be dealt with here.

I couldn't agree more about Mallett. Kid has great tools but he's got to show some progress. It's time.

........ I watched Tim do nothing but succeed at the QB position at EVERY level!!!... And then ..............

Ironman, I wrote on ESPN and Twitter... I watched the persecution at the hands on the NFL big wigs... I watched Tim do nothing but succeed at the QB position at EVERY level!!!... And then get black balled and rail roaded all the way to the bench... And now the greatest Winner I've ever seen put on his cleats can't even get a shot... That's why I have to ask... What is it about Tim that people have against him?.. His religion?..(of course)... His Race?(Plays a huge part)... His success? (envy and jealousy definitely play a role).. Or maybe the fact that he's a good guy who doesn't fit the mold.. And people just can't stand that... God Bless

Succeed at every level? How many SB rings does Tebow have? That's succeeding at the NFL level. Mark Sanchez has had more success than Tebow and you've compared him starting over Tebow to the crucifixion of Jesus.

Your talking in circles bro and getting no where.

This site is called PatsFans. You're not a Patriots FAN you simply follow Tebow around the NFL and bombard the teams fan base with illogical arguments.

American Champion people like you are the reason Tebow was steps for the Canadian League. Your actions are why no owners, GM's or HC's in the NFL wanted Tebow around their team and the teams who did take the chance dropped him like a bad habit.

If you think you're helping Tebow you're wrong in fact I think this nonsense is a cancer to the career of Tim Tebow.

I hope Belichick gives Tim some playing time this season.

That's assuming he makes the 53. For the last few years BB has kept only 2 QBs. His competition Mallett a.k.a. The Hammah has had a few years to learn the system.

I agree with your first two statements, but not the third. Of course Tebow is miles ahead of Mallett NOW. And what about all the talk of wanting to trade Mallett?

BTW, in time for what? To save his NFL career? If Belichick wants to try to do that (and have a better emergency injury option than Kafka), then perhaps, just perhaps, the coaching staff might succeed. Such success could happen this preseason. If not, then Belichick can decide whether Tebow is worth having on the 53.

In any case, if the team is successful with Tebow, I would think that they would then choose between Tebow and Mallett, this year or next.

My BOTTOM LINE is that I don't expect Tebow to make the 53. I do expect that another team would pick up as a #2 or #3. If that happens, Tebow will have the patriots to thank (and his own hard work).

Mallett is 1000 miles ahead of Tebow.

Tebow, IMO, is here because although he has deal breaking flaws, BB wants to see if he can correct them in time.

Tebows signing has nothing to do with Mallett.

Why are people responding to A_C? He's not a Christian or a Tebow fan, quite the opposte I'm sure...

I do NOT expect this to happen but were T2 to shine in camp enough to be the viable backup and Mallett to have substantive trade value (conditional 3rd or so) to a team that just lost their starter to pre-season injury I would like to see The Hammer traded.

Sanchez more successful than TeBow?....LOL.. That fruit picken, taco vendor is a butt fumbling loser.. More interested in raping underage girls(twice) than playing Football.. Yah, you support the rapist... I'll take Tim..... Let's see who finishes his career with more success... God Bless anyways

How do you know they didn't? Maybe they tried and were knocked back - the suggestion was that both the Bucs and Browns were interested (and the Bucs drafted a similar type QB in the 3rd).

No team thought he was worth a late 2nd, I thought he was a miles better prospect than any QB in this years draft? Thats what some people here told us.

I'm a Mallett hater, but the notion he's so far ahead Tebow is laughable. Tebow has a winning record, playoff experience, a 17-9 TD ratio, 75qbr, and 12 rushing TDs.

Wtf has Mallett done besides overthrow WRs by 20 yards in the preseason?

When will they announce who made the roster?

Earned the trust of BB judging by the way he was given sole possession of the #2 last year.

Personally I think Mallett has legitimate NFL upside but I agree that the rest of the NFL seems to have questions about him? Is that his immobility, his character or his intelligence? I don't know.

As an aside, it's amusing that Tebow critics constantly bring up the fact that he wasn't wanted by any other team but then say they're OK with Mallett who pretty much fits that definition too.

The way I see the QB position, is that in the coming years, we'll need a new one. I think we should start looking now for the eventual replacement and having a big armed player with experience in the system and an NFL experienced QB with top notch character aren't bad places to start.

In other words, I don't necessarily agree with you about Mallett, but do on Tebow. How anyone can criticise having a QB with starting and playoff experience as the #3 QB on the roster is beyond laughable and absolutely speaks to a non-football agenda.

"...fruit picken (sic) taco vendor..." Now, there's a genuine Christian take...

There is no actual evidence that BB wanted to trade Mallett. Using rumor as the basis of an argument is flawed.

BTW, in time for what?
In time = over a period of time. It hasn't happened yet, so who knows how long it may take, if it ever happens.

I think you look at this backwards. Signing him was the first step in evaluating if he can develop the appropriate skills. How long they have to work with him depends on a number of things. It isn't happenining in training camp, there is just too far to go.

In any case, if the team is successful with Tebow, I would think that they would then choose between Tebow and Mallett, this year or next.
The gap between Tebow and Mallett is measured in years not practices. Tebow is not a challenge to Mallett in any way at this point.

My BOTTOM LINE is that I don't expect Tebow to make the 53. I do expect that another team would pick up as a #2 or #3. If that happens, Tebow will have the patriots to thank (and his own hard work).
They have kept 3 before and may again.
Why would any team pick him up to be there 2 or 3 if no one wanted him before the Pats signed him? The Patriots were the only team in the NFL willing to bring Tebow to camp, why would any team change that and want him on the 53 based on how he plays against future pipefitters in the preseason?

Here's something to chew on.

Mark Sanchez has 4 road playoff wins. Including 1 @ Indy and obviously 1 in NE. How did TT do in his last road playoff game?

"Mark Sanchez is better than Tim Tebow, and that's it."

-- Joe Montana

I'd like to think a guy who is arguably the GOAT knows what he's talking about.

Well the GOAT Head coach seems to think he's a good player and worthy of being signed. I think ihis opinion matters more.

If Tebow was to go to IR could we reach an injury settlement to buy him out and then resign him during the season if we needed him to be on the active roster?

I know that we can have one IR player eligible to return in season but I would rather they save that for someone more viable to the teams success.

Why would we do that? We teach him the offense, cut him, no one else wants him. If we have an injury, we can bring him back because he will be unemployed.
If the Patriots hadn't signed Tebow he would be sitting home for training camp without a team.

Ill take Coach Belichick's word on a player way before I take the word of some washed up QB(Montana) who lives in San.. Fran.. Sisco.... God Bless

I disagree with Joe Montana completely.
