are you guys on drugs

heh...Fast Times At Ridgemont High?...

The weird part of the Internet is spreading.

The hell is going on with Mallett?! Who does he think he is, allowing himself to get traded, he has some nerve!

Did anyone catch Jason LaCanfora's Tweet last night that his sources say that the Browns acquired Mallett for a 3rd and 4th round pick? Apparently LaCanfora deleted it, because I don't see it on his account anymore.

I'm sure Grid would be thrilled with a 3 and a 4, but BB would pull a McKayla Maroney.

I feel a 3rd is more valuable this year then in 2011 because of the depth of this draft class, add that to the addition of a 4th to and it's not a terrible deal if it happen. Rather have a 1st or 2nd but its unlikely they'd part with the 6th pick and they don't have a 2nd rounder.

This is the year to trade Mallett though because I can't imagine another draft with this poor a QB class.

Shouldn't it be...WHAT THE HELL not the hell.

Wrong!!

The OP was written in the Vernacular, if that's the right term ~ the way people speak.

In fact, I personally thought that the way he went was far cooler because of it.

Saints back up QB, Chase Daniel, now a FA, is expected to sign for $3M???? Huh? He's thrown 8 passes in 4 years. So, I don't want to hear any bunk about how teams aren't sure of what Mallet's worth because he hasn't played.

OK, OK, Daniel has played well in the preseason but what exactly does that amount to? It doesn't necessarily mean that a QB will be good, the league is littered with preseason heroes who bombed.

If teams are willing to take a chance on Daniel, a dude not rated nearly as high as Mallet was coming out of college and like Mallet hasn't played in the regular season, then it only makes sense there are plenty of teams eyeballing Mallet. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see BB weasel a 2nd out of somebody, it could easily happen.

Not sure why anyone thinks Mallet is going anywhere. It isn't easy to pick up on the Pats offense, and although Brady has been extended to 40, it's going to be a surprise if he continues to play at a high level to that point.

Mallet has all the intangibles to be Brady's successor.

What evidence is there that he has "intangibles" and what evidence is there that he has some mastery of the system at actual game speed. Mallett is an unknown.

If there was evidence, they would be "tangibles" not "intangibles"

Mallett is an unknown on the NFL level, but the same can be said for all of the QBs in the draft. When it comes to spending a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick and QB is a need, two year old college tape on Mallett, playing against NFL talent, may well convince some GM that he has better tools than the other guys he's watching on tapes that are a few months old against lesser talent.

There can be plenty of evidence about the so-called intangibles of players. Tebow's wins are a good example.

What there is no evidence of, beyond his being on an NFL roster, is Mallett's ability to play QB in the NFL. He's certainly not shown any such ability in his limited time on the field.

What there is also no evidence of is ANY college QB's ability to play QB in the NFL.

That is what is being discussed, where Mallett is a viable alternative to using a pick on a QB in this draft, and if "spending" that pick on Mallett instead makes sense to any GM and scouting staff. Both Mallett and a college QB require scouting-based projections on how their abilities might contribute to a given system.

This season trading for Mallett makes sense for two reasons: the weak QB draft and a two year commitment from Mallett. That protects you if he's a bust and also gives you time to work on a new deal if he shows promise. Making the trade next year doesn't do the second.

I personally do not expect him to be dealt, but I see no real reason why the lack of NFL tape is a major hindrance if indeed the choice is Mallett vs. another player with a similar lack of NFL tape. In that case you are not sacrificing a known quantity for an unknown quantity. You're rather trusting you scouting to make two different projections and deciding which one is the best fit.

Go figure, Michael Lombardi and Greg Schiano (another Friend of Bill [Belichick]).

The Bucs make no sense, what are they trying to trade for Mallett to sit on the bench ?
