Right, Bill took personal offense to Wes trying to circumvent one of his "rules." I can think of at least a few occasions where the best interest of the team could have gone without Bill's ego. Like the start of a playoff game. And sitting your WR1 is pretty disrespectful to your own team. Reduced to targeting BJGE on the opening drive. Bill's not even consistent either, he had Wes on the field for a fair catch, then sat him out... inconsistent message at best.Sitting Welker for a quarter had nothing to do with how Bill felt about him as a person but everything to do with antagonizing an opponent and disrespecting/insulting the opposing coach.
I still haven't heard Bill's excuse for that incredibly ill-advised fake punt which led to a Jets 14-3 lead at halftime.
Ever play for an NFL franchise? I'm guessing no. Your Saturday night bowling league and my men's softball league aren't carrying the same weight as a professional football franchise.Biz and behavior because they are. Ever play on a team? Manage people? If you did you'd understand what i'm talking about.
Ty's personal relationship with the team had also soured. Wes wouldn't bow down to BB and he had the balls to ask for what he was worth. Also, Amendola was never on Wes' level as a player. Moss just couldn't keep his mouth shut. Seems obvious the incident at the Foxboro police station was held against Chandler.Ty was released b/c they didn't want to pay him $10m. Wes was not resigned b/c he wanted more money and was older than Amendola. Moss *****ed about his usage and contract was clearly becoming disruptive and was traded. Jones wanted big money and was traded. That had nothing to do with the drugs. Again, nothing personal- strictly business
Somehow I don't see either Stephen or Brian moving onto illustrious NFL coaching careers. It's nepotism they got in the door. It's not if they earn more responsibility based on merit.
Fat Matt was a total disaster in Detroit. He completely ruined his chances of ever landing a head coaching job again. Patricia didn't exactly set the world on fire as the DC of the Patriots so there was no reason to believe he could even function at all as a first time ever OC especially with a second year QB. This was much more than a "major business miscalculation."Yes it can and did. DCs become HCs and call plays. Thats what Fat Matt did in DET. Bill thought he could do OK here. Obviously a major miscalculation.
