The D is laughable

How do you expect a better performance than holding a team to 199 yards and 20 minutes TOP? The defense did its job and got themselves off of the field. You can't ask for any more than that. They have done it three out of four times this year. At that rate, the team will be 12-4.

it's weird...it just stares back at them in HUGE BLOCK LETTERS and they STILL can't see it...like some kind of mass hallucination...maybe they have to have it spelled out for them...

It's simple.....maybe it's blunt, but I feel that our d is overrated by many on this board.

The pats front 7 is supposed to be the best in football, but they can't get pressure on supposed "bad" offensive lines. It's been a problem for a couple years now. The lack of speed on the line is apparent. We can be thrown on, and considering this was a bounce back game, and they had a full week to get ready for this contest, I'm a bit shocked they played so poorly at the start of the game. I think the pats d played well enough to win, but they looked pretty bad for a large portion of the game. You guys can post all the stats you like, the niners are not a good team. Our current defense will be exposed badly in the playoffs, and I believe it will be the downfall of a sb run this year.

Thats how I see it, and I have every right to vent about it. At the time of this post, the d looked exactly the same as it did last week. Yes, they played better in the second half, but as a whole I thought it was a poor showing. I'm sick of the blown coverages, huge plays and lack of pressure on the qb. We have the talent and the best coach in football.

The niners have a good offense. The fact that you can't comprehend that undermines your argument before you can even begin it.

I think it's overrated. Listen, I can have the opinion that the pats d is overrated. It will be exposed in the playoffs. Btw, why is the 21st best offense in the NFL a good one? Yards:21st Passing:18th Rushing:19th. So, if you consider the 21st best O in the NFL a good one, then I guess your right.

NOBODY is saying we don't have worries. Every team has concerns...it's YOU and YOUR TOTAL NEGATIVITY that rankles everybody.

I get rankled but the constant ballwashing and homerism. It's crazy.

The 2001 team had Brady.... The D is not close to good enough to stop a high powered O. I'm sorry, but thats how I see it.

Not on defense they didn't nimrod. That D only stopped the so called greatest show on turf under the direction of the immortal Mike Martz. What morons like yourself fail to grasp is you're not going to shut out a well executed offense over the course of a 60 minute game. Because every team has talent and they all get paid and they don't all suck...

Honest to god, some of you spend too much time posting here and not enough time watching other football games...you've lost all perspective on what wins and what it takes to win. If teams thought like you they'd all just fold.

Good one, that one made me laugh. I think the pats d is a huge concern. We shall see if I'm right at the end of the year.

Ha-ha, I am never the one who hurls out insults. I have season tickets meatball, and I have been to pretty much every home game over the last 18 years.

I have every right to feel the pats d is overrated, and the funny thing is morons like you who melt down all over the place if someone thinks differently. Look how upset you are, calm down there big guy, its going to be ok

It ain't that simple, but I agree that thinking that this D is going to be its usual dominant self with the personell they have is just homerism and wishful thinking. The LBs are key to the 3-4 and from what I've seen we have not upgraded there. I like Mayo but he's not Patrick Willis or the second coming of Jesus. People need to get real about Mayo, as they needed to in the preseason.

I don't know if the front 3 are just playing their gaps and responsibilities and so far it just hasn't resulted in much pressure on the QB, or if they are just getting manhandled--I didn't see the game today. But with our secondary being what it is right now the front 3 need to start finding ways to get more pressure on the QB.

The D was bad today at 1st but started getting 3 and outs in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, had 3 INTS and did not give up a big running play to Gore. What bothers me is the front 7's inability to get sacks, O'Sullivan got free on 5 potential sacks today and Bruce torched the secondary, overall i would agree with Patslifer because the D was only on the field for 20 minutes. Can you imagine how many points they would of given up if on the field for 40 minutes? The offense definitely picked up the D today. Hopefully the D can put up a better performance next week, they will need to.
This is dumb on many levels. I have never heard a D called bad because they were on the field less due to forcing the other team to go three and out.

OTOH, this site has been overrun by people who have learned to stay out of the opposing fan forum by pretending to be Pats fans and criticizing from that platform.

There is a lot of room for discussion pro and con of various Pats strengths and weaknesses, but the moderators need to be smart enough to know what is discussion and what is simply trolling.

What we have now is trolls who have effectively taken over this site, long-time Pats fans complaining, and the moderators telling us there is nothing they can do. Ian, too.

Well, it's his site, and if this is the way he wants his site to be, good enough.

I think it is a shame.

The Pats beat the Jets IN NY 19-10... a week later Favre throws for 6 TD's on the Cards...the Cards humiliate the Bills today...yet YOU see the Patriots D as "horrible!!!!" and "exposed!!!".

The Patriots open up sluggish after a two week hiatus and a trans-continental flight to a place they have NEVER won in,hold the ball 40 minutes and hold the 9er offense under 200 yards total and YOU see this as "a real bad defense on the whole!!!!". Then you extrapolate the 2008 defense 12 games into the future and declare "their defense will never hold up!!!", even though their rookie inside LB has just 4 NFL games under his belt and the secondary a work in progress.

Then you damn ANYBODY who disagrees with your over the top pessimism with "ballwashing!!!" and "homerism!!!!".

The more you post the more you read like a crackpot.

I'll keep that in mind while I'm sitting in my 100 section seats, laughing about how your at home calling me names on a message board!

wow, section 100. So you must really know all about the team. :banned:

Thats not true, I say that in retaliation to bafoons like you who meltdown at every negative comment about the patriots.

Say what you want, the d will be exposed before the season is finished, and it will be the cause of our round one loss in the playoffs.

I used to sit in the nosebleeds back when people where pissing in the stands. My point was ( after being called a cheeser), that I have been watching this team for a long time. I don't tow the company line, and just because I worked hard and bought myself some nice seats, I am not a "wine and cheeser" who knows nothing. The D is slow, and lacks the swarming pressure of a sb defense.

I was attacked in the same way when I said Jackson was a bust after the first preseason game, and also after I said Maroney was made from glass.

Looks like I was right.

I'm not calling you a wine, and cheeser, but when you throw out that "I have section 100 seats" crap, you come across as one of those know it all a-holes. Just saying.

oh, and for what it's worth, I'm starting to doubt Maroney a little myself.

I was at the game the d played good, JT was runnin around 4 his life all day. Give credit to him tho he can scramble, if it was a pocket passer back there the d would of had about 3 or 4 sacks easy.

I said that after I was told to kill myself by another poster, and I felt the need to let him know that I would be cheering for him every week (while he insulted me on a message board), and I was at an actual game.

Meltdown? I'm LMAO at the level of ignorance you display.

Only a buffoon actually prints out "bafoons". One doesn't "tow" the company line...it's "toe" the line. Your basic level of ignorance is apparent, not only in a football sense but overall. If you actually possess season tickets, they're obviously being wasted. I wouldn't characterize you as a member of the "wine and cheese crowd"....more aptly you're part of the "whine and cheese crowd".
