Only consider it if he's made to room with Trent Brown; that way Trent can motivate him not to miss any games.

Whatever issues Ridley has, they are obviously big and nobody is saying if he has gotten any help with them.

This reporter is on drugs if he thinks any NFL team is going to trade for a guy whose has an $11 million dollar fully guaranteed contract! (the Falcons picked up his 5th year option). So his fourth year didn't toll, so he get paid $3.4 million in 2022 and then $11 million in 2023.

Nobody is trading for him, unless the Falcons kick in a bunch of cash. Its just too big of a risk.

He's not affordable considering what we'd have to give up to get him, allied with an uncertainty about his mental health status and desire to actually play.

Given all the problems this team needs to fix, and assuming Atlanta either refuses to trade Ridley or asks too much for him, let me offer you a howabout, just for chewing over:

Cut Agholor
Sign Berrios (or get a better slotWR if you can)
Draft Williams (Alabama wide receiver with ACL injury, who should fall a bit in the first round), and that makes it

Williams
Berrios
Bourne
Meyers
Someone not named N'Keal Harry

I'm not particularly enamored with Berrios, but that would, at least in theory, fix the WRs.

Personally, I think people are looking at the wrong Jets slot receiver. I think I would rather have Jamison Crowder than Berrios. I get why people want Berrios because he is the one who got away and is a dynamic returner, but Crowder is the far better slot receiver. And you can probably get Crowder for less than Berrios.

Although, I think Belichick may go after Isiah McKenzie. History has shown that Belichick does get enamored by players who shine against the Patriots when they play his team.

The issue with Ridley's contract is he is on his fifth year option. So he is unlikely to take a value deal or prove it deal and just play out the year on the option and his free agency. That also limits the trade value for the Falcons. They may be best off taking a third rounder and get rid of a head ache rather than wait two years for at most a third round comp pick after he plays one year for them.

Any of those 3 guys would be a desirable replacement for Agholor.

People are failing to realize that this is 2022. The team will get killed if it leaks that he won't be paid if he misses time for mental health issues. This is a whole new world we're living in as far as mental health and the optics on basically penalizing a guy who claims he isn't mentally able to suit up will be terrible. I think we would need to invest a lot in Ridley and it could potentially blow up in our face. I would rather draft a guy and hope for the best.

I remember banging the drum on Berrios over Gunner and then hearing about how great Gunner is after he was an All Pro returner last year. Now Berrios is an All Pro returner and Berrios's first season with the Jets he has almost as many receptions and yards as Gunner does in his entire Patriots career. Berrios looks like a solid slot receiver and good returner and Gunner looks clueless as a receiver and shaky as a returner. I wish we could evaluate receivers better.

Agree on adding one wr but not two. That first rounder is needed on the best available front 7 defender.

I recall there was a coordinated hard push from coaches and TB12 to turn Berrios into a capable slot guy. Like he was a focal point in all the training camp reports we were getting at the time. You could say it was desperate (and looking back at the moves made later that year, such as AB and Sanu, it was desperate times in the building).

There was definitely some desperation that year to get some new receivers in the mix but I just don't see how Gunner beat him out if being an actual receiver was a factor. Gunner was a converted D3 defensive back and and Berrios was a productive receiver at a school with a good NFL pedigree. I don't want to make Berrios out to be the next Julian Edelman but he at least looks capable as a receiver which is more than we get from Gunner.

Gunner was never a receiver. He was a CB if I recall. More dead weight the team needs to unload this offseason.

Quit on his team mid-season because of mental health issues. No thanks.

I'm more forgiving/optimistic of this because it was a health issue. There's a chance to address is successfully, vs. just a guy who has been programmed to be selfish. The devil is in the details.

Which is why it is even worse he made the team over Berrios.

I think this class in more on the middle tier pack in LB and very deep in CB. So unless we get Jameson/Gardner we should trade down to mid 30s and get a extra second round pick with that trade. Possibly get a second rounder for JC Jackson and trade up our 85 to lower 60s and get the best LB, CB,WR and DT with those 5 picks .

I'm sure the Jets will overpay to keep Berrios.

id give up #21 for him.

This team needs to be about buttressing the QB. BB's not going to spend top money on a top WR. That leaves trade or draft, but it needs to be done.

Comments:

1.) If the Pats Brass wants Ridley, then I am all in. I don’t think anyone is interested in Ridley until there is some clarity as to his status for 2022 and onwards…so a NO NO for me.

2.) This is as good of a place as any, but how about trading N’Keal Harry for Jalen Reagor?

- Both have similar cap numbers for 2022.
- Reagor is signed through the 2023 season, but Harry will be a FA.
- Reagor has 3X the catches/yards that Harry did this year…and he is a DISAPPOINTMENT in Philly.
- Reagor returns kicks and punts…so we could also upgrade Olszewski and have a KR/PR that can actually play WR.
- With Reagor replacing Harry and Olszewski…we could add a WR #4 that doesn’t need to play special teams or have Tre Nixon step in there.

I think Philly would do this deal just to get Reagor’s cap number off their books for the 2023 season. Maybe they can be convinced…..

The biggest thing Reagor has over Harry is lack of competition from real wide receivers on the roster. Adjusted for the number of passing plays each participated in this season, Harry actually comes out far ahead in terms of efficiency.
