The Athletic report on Vrabel/Russini

For those who don't want to click through:

The Athletic has released the findings of its internal review into former NFL insider Dianna Russini’s relationship with #Patriots HC Mike Vrabel:

— They concluded Russini violated its conflict-of-interest rules by failing to disclose her relationship with Vrabel

— The review found no inaccuracies in Russini’s reporting involving Vrabel or his teams.

— The Athletic says it found no clear evidence that Russini used her platform to promote Vrabel or help his teams.

— The investigation did identify several pieces of coverage that now warrant scrutiny, including one item that did not meet sourcing standards.

The Athletic reviewed 903 stories, 204 podcast episodes, 77 videos and interviewed approximately 14 staffers.

— The Athletic says it did not complete an investigation or reach any conclusion about the full nature of Russini and Vrabel’s relationship, including whether there was more to it.

So. Nothingburger.

So. Nothingburger.

It had no chance to become anything. The worst area they investigated is did "Russini used her platform to promote Vrabel or help his teams" and it's not like such platform-specific "help" could move the needle much one way or another. Even if they accused her of such, it's still be a nothing-burger.

It seems like the wagons are fully circled, and we have no reason to think that they won't stay circled.

Not shocked The Athletic attempts to drop a bombshell, but there's nothing here.

Except on this forum, where a thread generated 1288 responses in a discussion about her and Vrabel.
Take out the posturing and it'd probably be @ 200 responses. That's why I'm not a people person. I tried but... f'n people man

As if other team's forums would be silent on such a topic?

Vrabel made it worse by his initial "laughable" comments then his non-apology-apology about how "we" need to make better decisions.

Mike's posturing helped make it go viral, IMO.

Can someone help explain the tampering complaints that I see fans *****ing about ? If Vrabel never screwed russini would aj brown have magically stayed happy in Philadelphia or not wanted to be a patriot? Honestly confused how ne would benefit from this

In the greater info sphere sure it did. Here? NFW. The hundreds of pontificating and argumentative posts in there weren't because of Vrabel's posturing. I gave up on that moral **** measuring contest of a thread fairly early but I can't imagine once I left everyone in that thread was suddenly arguing Vrabel did anything but step on his crank the way he responded when the story broke. That wasn't what ran that abomination to 1288 posts (haven't looked, I'm taking that count from the post above, I'm also sure without looking the displays of intolerance reached the point where it was closed). I'm fairly confident after the first few hundred posts it was the usual suspects going at it with ginned up holier than thou moral outrage vs corresponding proclamations of the superiority of those professing their open mindedness, I'm sure it didn't take long for religion to come intto it either.

Really? Who didn't know some reach of a story was going to drop RIGHT before week one? This story has died and some are keeping it on life support for whatever their motives may be. At this point I truly believe some are just haters looking to distract the organization and the team itself from having a successful season. I'm pretty sure they know that and expected this nonsense.

Maybe mildly reactive but nothing significant, we can all be like that.

Pointing out to pontificating clowns their continual opinionated posturing is obnoxious passes for 'maybe mildly reactive' here at Pats Fans? Here I thought It made me someone whose tolerance for jackassery could use some work

People are still talking about this?
