The 2014 Mock draft Thread.

my first mock draft..

1 - Louis Nix III - DT ND (i know, top 10 pick)
2 - Darqueze Dennard - CB Michigan State
3 - Dominique Easley - DT Florida
4 - Trey Milliard - FB Oklahoma
5 - AJ McCarron - QB Alabama
6 - Stanley Jean Baptiste - CB Nebraska

3. DeQuan Jones DT
4. Trey Millard FB Oklahoma

2b-Travis Swanson C, Arkansas
3a-Jace Amaro TE, Texas Tech
3b-Daquan Jones DT, PSU

When I was watching Rutgers games to get a look at Duron Harmon, Jamil Merrell really stood out. Unfortunately he's only 220lbs or so but I like the idea.

Sorry to use your mock as a jumping off point (nice mock btw), but here's a question for people. Purifoy or Kyle Fuller?

I think Purifoy just because he's closer to what Talib is, but if we didn't have Arrington or Dennard, Fuller might just be my potentially favourite pick for the Pats. When the play is in front of him, he is incredible. He's arguably the best CB I've seen at playing the run in college. His problem is that he allows receivers to get behind him too easily. Has anyone seen his Georgia Tech tape where he virtually plays linebacker to counter the GT triple option?

Purifoy is a four down football player. Just remember, Bill Belichick values special teams (think Devin McCourty).

08/21/2013 - TOP FLORIDA PROSPECTS FOR THE 2014 NFL DRAFT: 1. CB Loucheiz Purifoy (6-0, 185, 4.47)*...Well-built and light on his feet, Purifoy certainly looks the part of a top-flight NFL prospect. Better yet, he's been asked to play in a NFL-style defense. The Gators ask their corners to play tight man to man coverage on most snaps and Purifoy handles this responsibility well. He will extend to jam the receiver, at times, but is athletic enough to simply turn and run with most, demonstrating fluid hips, quickness and straight-line speed. Ironically enough, the corner may actually be at his best against the run. Purifoy is very quick to read run, fighting through blocks to get involved in the action.

Using the CBS rankings again:

Trade out of round 1 for a 2 and a 4 then another trade back in round 2 to pick up another late round pick.

2. Travis Swanson - C - Arkansas (65)

2. Daniel McCullers - DT - Tennessee (71)

3. C.J. Fiedorowicz - TE - Iowa (99)

4. Trey Millard - FB - Oklahoma (108)

4. Deion Belue - CB - Alabama (128)

5. Brandon Thomas - OG - Clemson (142)

6. Deandre Coleman - DT - Cal (170)

6. Logan Thomas - QB - V Tech (177)

6 comp. Ryan Groy - OG - Wisconsin (198)

6 comp. Cairo Santos - K - Tulane (235)

7. Donald Hawkins - OT - Texas (282)

Stocked up on some big uglies this time, shame because I liked the De'Anthony Thomas mock!

I don't disagree with that but so is Fuller. In fact he's quite some special teams player as a gunner and lead blocker.
But can Fuller consistently hold up in man press coverage?

But can Fuller consistently hold up in man press coverage?

Can Purifoy? He gives up a lot of receptions.

Like I said, if it's a question of replacing Talib which it likely will be, Purifoy is probably the better bet and I wasn't taking issue with your mock. In fact, there's a lot to like about Purifoy's game, particularly his explosiveness but to me, Fuller is a wow player when the ball is in front of him and if we were a cover two team or looking for a nickel CB, I would say Fuller in a heartbeat. But we're not and so Purifoy is probably the better guy.

It's just that I thought Purifoy v Fuller would be an interesting debate.

So bear in mind, if you're going to do a full mock as of right now, don't forget to give the Steelers the #1 pick overall:

2014 NFL Draft Order: Week Five Update | NEPatriotsDraft.com - 2014 NFL Draft

To revise from my initial draft:

FA's Resigned

Edelman, Julian
Hoomanawanui, Michael (FA MIN)
Svitek, Will
Green, Tyronne (currently on IR)
Ninkovich, Rob (*Already done)
Fletcher, Dane
Talib, Aqib (Franchised in all probability)

Draft

I did a trade down last time but i am going to stay put this time for the talent around 25-30

1.) Stephon Tuitt, DE 6'6 DE/DT, ND (28) : Building for an Elite D. If this pick can work out and Tuitt can move to a 3-4 DE, LDE in base and DT in Sub. Picking up a Muhammad Wilkerson type would be big for this D. Still not 100% convinced on him inside tho but thats what Mocks are for.
2.) Trade into the 3rd and pick up an early 4th
3.) Hroniss Grasu C 6-3 298 I know we don't usually pick C's this early but i personally think Wedell's pass blocking has been a liability for this team and this is as good a position as any to upgrade.
3.) DaQuan Jones DT Penn State 6-3 333 - double Dipping at the interior rush position. But i still think we need to as we have no idea how Big Vince will return.
4.)Jace Amaro, TE 6-5 257 throwing another athletic body at the TE position hoping that he can take up the Hernandez Role and give TB some more receiving weapons.
4.) Devin Street, WR 6-3 192 Another young Receiver to give to TB. he has had a good start this year and is a possession guy with a nice frame.
5.) Marcel Jensen TE 6-5 258 4-5 Double dipping here

Haven't done enough late round homework but i want these last 2 picks to be on late round character concern drops / raw freak athletes and hope we get an Edelman, Dennard e.t.c
6.)
7.)

Am hoping that would make our D front for 2014. And i think it would be quite an adaptable bunch when you throw in Collins and Arrington in Sub Packages

CB Talib DE Tuitt NT Wilfork DE Kelly CB Dennard

. OLB Ninko ILB Mayo ILB Hightower OLB Jones

. SS Gregory
. FS McCourty

An upgrade at SS and a nice backup for Big Vince, and that would be a mouth-watering D, particularly if Armstead can be the guy to replace Kelly long-term. Good job.

Alot of receptions? Really?

Florida has the best defense in college football.
Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

10/01/2013 - Defense is getting the job done at Florida. After holding Kentucky to just one touchdown and 173 yards in total offense, the Gators are No. 1 in the SEC in scoring defense (12.8 points a game), No. 1 against the rush (53.5 yards per game), No. 1 in total defense (202.5 yards), and No. 1 in third-down defense (holding opponents to just a 17.8 percent conversion rate).
