I recall how bad it was in some Patriots early years. Especially the laughing and snickers about the Patsies, and their inexplicable ways amid the myriad of unsignable, unaffordable draft picks. Billy Sullivan was granted possesion of a Franchise as a last minute afterthought, when the NFL counterattacked and stole the Minnesota and Dallas territories. He didn't have two nickles to rub togther, and the penny pinching showed.
Still Holovak and the Players obviously under-manned, got by by sheer will and posted better than terrible, even winning records. They were even still in the hunt for the the first Superbowl appearance, until hungover Namath and the Jets upset them, having already defeated Kansas City. I adopted them as a Fan for their sheer guts and pluck, despite the owner's inadequacies.
Now I see the anguish of long suffering Jets Fans and even my heart goes out to some of them.
Then I see a post by some obnoxious, pretentious, Neuw Yawk prick, and the momentary compassion evaporates. I return to gloating over thier dismal distress with no hope on the horizon, as far as the eye can see.
