There's so many things that people forget when bashing Belichick:
1) his teams are consistently in the top 4 record wise, so he almost never drafts early. The picks he makes are less likely to make the roster, and he has to build around Brady, while the Jets are free to draft wherever because their starting QB is a mediocre religious fanatic and the backup is even worse.
2) he has had almost all of his coaching staff pilfered far more than any other team. Crennel, Weiss, mcdaniels, Mangini, O'brien etc. Every time one rises up they get taken away, name me another team that has to compete with anything like that.
3) he lost what could have been a game-changing first round pick. Arguments about whether it was his fault aside, how many times do Jets fans whine about Gholston? that's pretty much what happened to the pats and yet this team is still competitive at the highest levels every year.
4) he already had a dynasty. I love how they always forget that the Pats should be rebuilding and start their criticisms at 2005. The Pats Defense "sucks" well maybe that's because all of the guys from the all time great defense just retired. The Jets have one good little wave of drafting and spending large and now it looks like they're effed again. Belichick's team is again on an upwards trajectory after sinking to such dire depths as being 11-5 without the best QB of all time.
I said it before, but the only reason why the Jets have this thread on this board or get attention from Pats fans is because they have obnoxious, loudmouthed fans who demand attention, and a team that seems to follow suit. Their talent level and competitive record over the last 40 years make them more of a stepping stone than a rival. They should be worrying about the Bills or maybe the Dolphins this year, and yet they concentrate on the Pats because in their minds we are their nemesis. Just go home and get your shinebox Jets fans.
