Would you be in favor of adding Tebow to the Pats

Denver is largely a religiously conservative, devoutly christian place. I believe it is headquarters of the Promise Keepers, a large group of certifed christian wackjobs. If Manning has a bad game, those folks will come out of the woodwork. Elway smartly wants to avoid that scenario at all costs. Likeliest scenario is an outright release. With Tebow gone, those folks will go back to looking for Jesus in their frosted flakes.

Reading the Broncos' boards has been really entertaining the last few days.

I find the whole thing very interesting, and Manning to the Broncos couldn't have played out better for the NFL, storyline-wise.

What Tebow does or doesn't do next will tell us a lot about whether his humble-Christian act is for real or not. I know that Manning has never taken much of an interest in teaching, but staying in Denver and learning from one of the G.O.A.T. would seem to be consistent with Tebow's professed values.

The Tebow to the Pats acolytes here need to consider and answer this having ignored my cap cost issue.

If Tebs to the Pats as a red zone player and/or few gimmick plays is such a valuable asset to possibly already the best offense in football wouldn't he be even more of an asset to Denver in the same capacity? Manning is less healthy than TFB and may be the only QB in the NFL less mobile than Tom.

I think this is about more than just value to the organization. It's well publicized that Elway couldn't stand Tebow and has been looking for a reason to get rid of him.

Tebow would be an excellent choice for the Jets. His ability, generally, to avoid the turnovers that Sanchez is so willing to make, would improve that team immensely, because the defense wouldn't be consistently put in bad positions. The Jets would need to get a better slot receiver, though.

I hope he goes to the Jets, because you're wrong about his turnovers vs. Sanchez's.

If you look at career interceptions and fumbles per rushing and passing attempts, the totals are pretty similar. Tebow fumbles more while Sanchez throws more interceptions. That's the only difference.

Sanchez:

Pct of Passing and Rushing Attempts with Turnover: 4.4%

Interceptions (51) + Fumbles in Passing Situations (4) + Fumbles in Rushing Situations (12) = 67

Career Passing Attempts (1,414) + Career Rushing Attempts (103) = 1,517

Tebow:

Pct of Passing and Rushing Attempts with Turnover: 4.4%

Interceptions (9) + Fumbles in Passing Situations (7) + Fumbles in Rushing Situations (7) = 23

Career Passing Attempts (353) + Career Rushing Attempts (165) = 518

Meanwhile, the Jets appear to be gearing up for a serious, aggressive run at Tebow. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets’ interest is “legitimate.”

“We are players in the Tebow race,” one source inside the Jets’ organization told Mehta. Despite the presence of starting quarterback Mark Sanchez, Tebow could be a complementary piece in New York’s run-first offense.

If true, I think the JESTS are doing this to either get their average QB to think there's legit competition to go against and try to "motivate him" and/or the JESTS found their replacement for Brand Smith.

Ignoring the fact that I have no idea how being Peyton Manning's backups shows Christian values (whuh huh? ) fact is, the Broncos are eager to get rid of him. No way he stays in Denver, and that has nothing to do with his faith.

The reason Manning went to the Broncos is simple.

He wanted to save the NFL from Tim Tebow, and his lunatic fans. Nobody will trade for him, because he's bad at the position he tries to play.

Thank you Peyton Manning for doing your part to make Tebow go away forever.

Legitimate question. Let's say the Broncos offer Tebow and a pick for Mallett. Which pick of theirs would it take for you to accept that? And let's assume Tebow redoes his contract so he's not making $6 and $7 million in 2013 and 2014, just normal backup backup pay, but perhaps on a longer contract.

Without putting much thought into it I would say maybe a 3rd, probably a 2nd; however it is really a moot point because of that contract.

Tebow wants to be a starting quarterback and he's not going to get a legitimate shot at that with the Patriots; therefore, why we he agree to such a massive restructure or pay cut to play for the Pats? What's the incentive for him to do that?

In a way it is similar to the situation Manning faced with the Colts. Rather than go along with a restructure or pay cut he was able to become a free agent. Once a free agent he could work out a deal that he was most comfortable with, financially, personally and professionally. Tebow is in a situation to do the same, whether it be this off-season (most likely, based on Elway's comments) or next off season (when his salary and cap figure takes a big jump).

I just don't envision a scenario where it would be in Tebow's best interest to agree to accept a big enough restructure that would make sense for the Pats to trade for him. He'd be better off being cut and becoming a free agent.

So Elway is such the ego driven fool that he would cast Tebow out of heaven into hell (Jets) despite the alleged acolyte position touted here that Tebow would make the Patriots, the NFL's best offense unstoppable? He wouldn't want the same for his far less than best offense?

I say that this shows the achilles heel of those arguing for Tebow to the Pats where he contributes as a non-starting QB and 'special' player. If he can make THIS offense with the GOAT etc. better, think what he could do for a team with less weapons and an even less mobile rusty, aged starting QB.

We don't need Tebow. We sell out every home game let him go to Jacksonville Tampa or Miami. Our wildcat offense can b ran by J. Kerley or Joe McKnight we straight

Is it a mortal sin for me to pray that Tebs goes to the Jets and locker room catastrophic meltdowns ensue between Tim and Cro?

EDIT: How could I forget the HC who pimps his wife out fantasizing about watching all 3 holes filled?

It would be SO perfect, wouldn't it? After two weeks of not touching the ball, considering Tebow only throws it like six times per game, Santonio Holmes would lead the locker room mutiny. I would pay money to watch that.

Its not about that. When discussing Tebow 95% of the debaters either fall on the side of supporting Tebow the person, and therefore ignoring the warts, and claiming that everything positive was because of him (including that the defense played better because he got them psyched up to) or those that have a grudge against his views or popularity and must take everything only from a negative point of view, ignoring the good.

It is very difficult to find an objective opinion about Tebow, because first, anyone with an objective view has less interest in the topic than those obsessed on either end, and secondly because debating against an ignorant extreme position is frustrating.

Discussing Tebow from the middle is like discussing politics from a centrist standpoint with Jerry Fallwell and Al Sharpton.

Cromartie: I make love to every woman I see.

Tebow: I don't make love.

Cromartie: Ha ha ha ha ha.

Tebow: Ha ha ha ha ha. Good talk man, you're a great team mate.

He'd be the back up QB, not 4th string.

He'd also be a short yardage running option, a decoy, red zone threat, mobile blocker...

Brady is crazy efficient sneaking the ball, but it might be a good idea to protect him a little more in those situations as he ages. Any hit Tommy avoids is a big positive in my eyes.

Well if you replace Brady with Tebow, that's an automatic tipoff that it's either a run play or an option play. Then again I'd rather see Tebow try to run the ball than Hernandez. AH is much more valuable creating mismatches as a pass catcher. Tebow for a 5th? I'd do it just to get another weapon on offense.

Elway's a douche, mang. He's hated Tebow from the start. I'm not making it up, google "Elway dislikes Tebow". It got so bad that back in November Tebow was even asked about it.

Considering his inauspicious entry into the league I think it's hardly out of character for Elway to be the sort of petulant ass who would lose than win in a way that isn't 'his' way.

Tebow in a jet uniform. Would hate him even more than i do now

You are forgetting that Tebow made Hernandez a star in Florida. They go way back and have a very solid connection. Tebow can throw to TEs, as long as they get open and are not JAGs.

I would hope anyone could throw to an open TE who isn't a JAG.

I know Tom Brady sure as hell can, what happened to that guy anyways that we are talking about Tebow throwing to Hernandez?
