We knew why they did it, as Glenn's re-signing after this year seemed unlikely - it was still a poor value, though, trading a #2 and a #1 (next year) for a second round quality prospect. Sure, it looks "good" in terms of filling the hole - it's still a bad value though.I guess that Ugoh signing doesn't look so bad now to all the posters who continued to bash it again and again....
Oh...I'm starting to get it. Glenn sees them draft Ugoh and interprets that as the handwriting on the wall regarding a contract extension with the Colts.
That being the case, he decides to blackmail them by "retiring" unless they throw significantly more $ at him to play out his contract or possibly trade him to a team that will give him big upfront money this year as part of a contract extension.

Why are New England fans so paranoid?
The Patriots won the Super Bowl with a rookie at left tackle, so it can be done.
The Colts drafted Ugoh pretty high, and Polian is a great judge of talent, unfortunately.
I liked the Gonzalez pick - in fact I predicted it. But I didn't know they were so desperate for a Tackle that they'd trade a #1 and #2 for one.All true, and I had to tip my cap to him for the Anthony Gonzalez pick. But I would have screamed bloody murder if the Pats had spent a #1 on Ugoh -- let alone a #1 + #2. I'm just not sold on the player, especially as a tackle.
WOW!!!! This is brilliant. I'm sure glad you don't work for the Colts!I liked the Gonzalez pick - in fact I predicted it. But I didn't know they were so desperate for a Tackle that they'd trade a #1 and #2 for one.
In retrospect for them they should have traded for Welker, drafted Ugoh #1 and kept their #1 next year.
Ugoh, Welker, 2008 #1 vs. Ugoh, Gonzalez . . . I bet when all is said and done the 2008 #1 will be of about the same value as Gonzalez so using this equation they'd have had Welker for free.
Well Polian is untouchable so if Gonzalez does well the media will kiss his ass. Like they do about drafting Edge over Ricky Williams - OK good choice - but they don't mention that he gave Marshall Faulk to the Rams for a #2 and #5 after which he was the best (or one of the best anyway) player in the league for 3 years and a good one for a couple more.WOW!!!! Yeah I know. But giving away Faulk for a 2&5 was equally bad.Edge over Ricky Williams was one of many great moves by Polian.

Your choice : Edge + #2 + #5 or Faulk + #1 (4th overall). Champ Bailey went 3 picks later . . . Edge + #2 + #5 or Faulk + Champ. Or Torry Holt.
I thought that was because Indy wouldn't pay him not that Faulk flat out wanted to leave the team. Call it what you want, he went from Faulk to James and had to use the #4 pick, which could have been a Champ or a Torry Holt, to do it.In fairness to Polian, Faulk wanted out so getting what they got was a good deal.
