System QB Tom Brady will be roasted live on Netflix

TB gave me the laugh of the night with the BB comp of "When I'm at the Indy 500 I don't go up to the winning driver and asked 'Who gassed up your car?!'"

It didn't really hit home for me. Any idiot can put gas into a car. Matt and Joe proved that even established pro coaches can't even make the switch to offense without screwing things up. Seemed to me there was a joke there to be had, but IMO the writers didn't really connect on that one.

It's a roast. Literally the whole point is to go as raunchy as possible.
That's why I think Gronk's shtick was/is underrated.

Go big or go home.

So this was one moment of the night that felt broke through the “roast”.

After Jeff Ross made a massage Kraft joke, Brady marched up to the guy and said something along the lines of “don’t say that **** again.”

Do we think Brady was being sincere there? I’m not so sure that was part of the joke. I think he might’ve felt Kraft was off limits. Maybe his declining health has something to do with it.

Strange he reacted to that, more so than "the next time we'll be together is at Kraft's funeral"....

The media's taken note:

Celebration, yet one more nail in the coffin too. It's ovah.

IMO despite all the cosmetic surgery, Brady ain't aging too well.

If he's actually gonna do that TV gig, he better not put it off too long.
They have camera lenses that can make you look 21.

Drew looks old and like he owns a grape vineyard.

Why was Kim Kardashian there at all? Is she Brady's friend or something? Is she going to take a run at the roast circuit? She looked pretty uncomfortable when she got a few jokes thrown her way.

I thought the booing was hilarious.

She's there because she is (was?) a celeb.

The line about her being nervous to be there because her kids were home with their dad was hilarious.

Glazer was the best.
Hart was great all night.

I really enjoyed it I felt poor Drew got ripped the worst.
What a sport and the reason I became a Pats fan followed him into the NFL.
Yep, Kevin Hart gets a fair amount of hate but I love him. He brought some of the hard hitters with the Giselle karate coach bit (hilarious) but I also loved how he smoothed it over with the "Tom, what were you thinking agreeing to this?!" follow up.

Maybe the cruelest line of the night was Nikki Glaser's “Your ex-wife’s new boyfriend can kick your ass while eating hers!"...

Perhaps the second was "“You retired, then you came back, and then you retired again. I mean, I get it, it’s hard to walk away from something that’s not your pregnant girlfriend.”.

Hart was brutal as well, with his "When you have a chance to go 8-9 you gotta do it" line, as well as his line about Tom f'ing his coach by leaving while Gisele was also f'ing her coach.

Brutal, but as BB and Hart both said, why the bleep did you sign up for this?!?

At least two people aren't happy:

I thought it was Drew bled so Tom could run,
Then she said I’m moving on from you Drew you know like your team did after you almost died.

Holy ****

Yeah, I was thinking mostly about the worst stuff said to/about Tom, but that too was brutal.

Giselle should have thought of that before stepping out. Consequences.

Watching Edelman's post cast with Drew and apparently before the show everyone was hanging out listening to Bill and Kraft walked in and they said it felt awkward. Drew did say that Bill and Kraft talked for about 10 minutes.

Most outlets today are speculating it was real.

I’m kinda leaning this way by the reaction of J. Ross. It didn’t look like he expected it and he didn’t really have any sort of good comeback, which if it was planned he would have.
It was a work. Jeff Ross said so in an interview with Rich Eisen

Some jokes that didn't make it to the show... Pretty good stuff!

I saw that. He didn’t say it was a work. Eisen asked if Brady was mad at him and he laughed it off and said no. He didn’t say it was a work though.

For the record I have always been a BB guy so didn't actually agree with the joke. But the absurdity of it and TB's delivery is exactly what made it so hilarious for me.

Yes, I totally agree with that aspect. I wouldn't say Tom was smooth but would say he was comfortable delivering his lines. With more practice/experience I'm sure he'd be better. To me BB looked pretty uncomfortable up there. He seemed nervous speaking in front of that many people (16,000 according to Stern) and his timing and delivery were not good. Yet he did have some good zingers, like the "not so easy to run a team, eh Tom" jab and the "because of me" finisher. Also he did good on the McAfee draft thing so I think it's about the venue.

This just came up on my feed and is my new favorite moment from sunday:
Bb: alot of you don’t know this but ive got a big heart
*crowd laughs*
Bb: no seriously
*crowd laughs harder*
Bb: cmon man!!

Its amazing the different impressions people got. I thought BB was great. I agree he was not super comfortable up there but he’s not supposed to be and his jokes all landed pretty well which is all you really want for something like this.
