I wonder if he in fact really did have actual influenza. That can wreck you for a week or so and then even when you kick it you can be pretty weak for several weeks.

There is a pretty nasty bronchial bug going around as well that requires multiple rounds of antibiotics..

Peyton had a similar bug but the flesh eating kind. Fortunately for him, it started on his forehead and later died of exhaustion before spreading.
