Ohhhhhhhhhh kayyyyyyyyyyyy. Well, when the Patriots said that they were transitioning to "Variable Ticket Pricing" this season, apparently "variable" means "we're charging you way the heck more than last year."

I was expecting a modest increase, not to be fleeced. I'm certainly holding onto my tickets during the Brady-Belichick years but I bet a lot of people move up the waiting list and I tell ya, once the "good ole' days" are done and gone, I imagine a lot of non-renewals from the peasantry.

I would be interested in comments from other STHers.

$5 increase per ticket. or a 6% increase

Yes I suppose I should mention my increase. I'll be paying an additional $17.50 per ticket, which is roughly a 15% increase. So the bottom line is roughly a $1,000 increase on the season.

Is was was posted here earlier wrong?
Someone posted a chart that said preseason tickets went down, regular games stayed the same, and 'premium games' increased but the net change was zero?

My friends corner level seats said his overall price stayed the same.

I don't know the breakdown, I only know my total cost and let me assure you that my total cost has increased by $1,000 for my 6 seats. Maybe some sections didn't get an increase but mine sure did.

1000 total for all 6 seats?

re: Sticker Shock: Variable Ticket Pricing

Law of supply and demand. The only way to make them reasonably priced again is to not buy. Just remember to get the waiting list to not buy with you.

re: Sticker Shock: Variable Ticket Pricing

People should be bracing themselves for the eventual reality that stadium tickets aren't going to be affordable by normal schmucks. There's too much demand. I expect tickets to outpace cost of living roughly similar to the last 20 years of college tuition.

Yes. It is an average increase of $17.50 per tickets times 60 = $1,050. I do not know the exact breakdown though, I can only currently see my bottom line.

After a couple of 6-10 seasons (and yes, people, we have 6-10 seasons in our future) that might just happen.
